'get you' by daniel caesar & kali uchis was currently playing as background music while i got ready, the sound of my makeup brushes tapping on my eyeshadow palette being heard through the room.
"aria," lizzie said from the bathroom behind me, gaining my attention. "do you think i should curl just the ends of my hair or leave it straight?" she asked, the off hair straightener in her hand.
"curl it, i doubt rapunzel's hair was perfectly straight after getting stepped on by her and multiple other people." i said looking at her through the vanity mirror that allowed me to see right through the open bathroom door. lizzie chuckled quietly before turning on the hair straightener with a small beep after plugging it into the wall.
we were now almost done getting ready for the halloween party in an hour, just adding a few last minute things to our outfits before we were picked up by matt.
"what's been going on with you and chris, by the way?" lizzie suddenly asked, catching me off guard.
"uh, nothing really. i'm thinking tonight should just be about friends, not boys." i said, looking at her through the mirror again. i knew that no matter what i desired, the night probably wouldn't go as expected. tonight would either go perfectly fine or be a complete shit show. whatever happened though, we all would have heaps of fun, right?
the two of us finished getting ready, packing up our makeup and hair tools before heading downstairs. we were met with matt's car when we made it outside, his window being wide open as he waved at us.
"hey, liz" he said, his attention centered on lizzie. "and aria, i guess." he said and pulled a face at me, rolling up his window as we hopped in the very back seats.
