"Beer ka ba or gusto mong mag-shot ng Cuervo?" Magnus asked me when I arrived at the party. "Beer lang," sagot ko.
Umalis si Magnus sa table namin at kinuha ako ng inumin. Ako ang huling nakarating sa party. Sa Makati ginanap itong party na ito, seniors daw namin ang nag-organize nito, parang late Valentine party raw.
"Tagal mo," ani Wren. "Hirap maka-book kanina ng Grab, e," I reasoned out. "Anong oras kayo dumating?" dugtong ko.
"Mga 10:30," si Amy. I checked my phone and saw that an hour had already gone by pala.
"I like your top," Wren told me as she looked at my back. I was wearing a blue tank top with some details on the back.
"Got it recently lang, sa ZARA," sabi ko sa kaibigan. "Were there other colors?" I nodded.
"I think there was a navy green and black." Wren nodded and talked to Dominique after.
The place was filled with familiar faces. I looked around and felt a little cold. Ang lakas ng aircon dito. My friends were busy talking about something when I noticed Dominique plainly staring at Amy; nakikinig ba 'to sa usapan nila? I hid a smile and saw Magnus coming back.
"Thank you, how much?" tanong ko nang ibigay sa akin ng kaibigan ko ang inumin. "It's free, seniors will pay raw."
"Oh, okay," I chugged some beer before joining my friends' conversation.
"Ayon, my cousins can't talk to me rin," Wren said. "Why?" tanong ko.
"Our parents fought when we had dinner together about something, I wasn't really paying attention to them that much, bigla na lang nawala sa mood mga tao. Then, my parents told me that they had a fight. I wouldn't probably see my cousins for a while, and they might have been banned from talking to me and my other cousins."
Nanlaki ang mga mata ko. "That's so harsh," ani Magnus.
"Yeah, family fights are pretty complicated, pati mga anak na walang kinalaman, madadamay sa away," Dominique remarked.
"If you guys become parents, what would you do?" I asked them. "I think the better question is if we would have kids," si Magnus.
"Why? Ayaw mo?" umiling si Magnus. "Not in my plans," tumango kami.
"How about you, Amy?" Wren asked. Amy glanced at us after drinking a shot of whatever alcohol she was drinking. "I want kids, maybe two," she replied.
"Would you stop your kids from seeing their cousins if you fought with any of your siblings?" umiling agad si Amy. "I'd still let them see each other, there is no point in using my kids because I'm angry. They'd just resent me."
I silently agreed with Amy's sentiment and continued drinking.
"I want to have four," sabi ni Wren, "same kami ni Amy, ayaw kong gamitin mga magiging anak ko just to piss off my siblings more. Mas naiinis kasi 'yong parents, 'di ba? Kapag nalalaman nilang pinalalayo 'yong mga pinsan ng anak niya sa anak niya?"
"Oo," Dominique answered. "Weirdly, it's normal," Amy said.
A senior approached our table and our conversation paused.
"Hey, guys! Want to play beer pong? Nasa baba," the senior said.
"Sige po," sagot ni Magnus. Then, the senior left.
"Do we really play?" Amy asked. "No, tinatamad ako," sagot ni Magnus.
"Good, I'm not in the mood to play that stuff," nagkatinginan kami ni Wren dahil naalala naming... may history nga pala si Amy with that game with her... former guy.
