I wasn't sure if good luck was on Kalon or me because Mommy had never once agreed whenever I asked her if my friends could come to our house. But with Kalon, I didn't have to beg. She just said to bring him for dinner. There were no conditions.
Was she in an extremely good mood that she'd let others go to our house? Why? Did Daddy suddenly say he'd come home again? Or... was she finally opening herself again?
"MJ!" I halted and saw Magnus walking towards me.
He's been better these days. While the divorce of his parents was being processed in court before, he asked for a condo near DLSU from them. His siblings were staying with his father.
The divorce was the reason why he cried to us, his friends, last March. For a while, he was lost. Binuhos niya sa pag-aaral ang lungkot niya. He became active in his orgs too. By the end of the last term, he had the highest grade in our friend group, higher than Amy's.
Pain... really changes people.
Sometimes, for the worse.
Sometimes, for the best.
We crossed the streets and entered the empty Angrydobo.
"Also, I bought you mango shake," he added.
"Thanks. Today 'yong Physics exam ko. Mahirap, talaga?"
Magnus smiled. "Pero... ewan, baka mamaya two sets of exam ginawa niya. Baka iba naman sa inyo."
"Dalawa ba ginagawa no'n?"
"Sabi no'ng senior na kakilala ko, mahilig daw 'yon gumawa ng two, minsan three, sets of exam para walang cheating na mangyayari."
"Sipag naman niya."
"I know. Also, ano nangyari sa donation drive ninyo?
"Yeah, I joined them. The kids were so pure. His mother cooed him to stop crying but he wouldn't, so President ng org namin nagpakalma.
"Ang ganda ng ginawa n'yo, thinking of joining your org next term."
I smiled.
So, I told Magnus, "actually, I joined two other orgs this term. One university-based and one outside of school."
"Oh, ano 'yong outside of school?"
