1 month later.

NWSL Championship Day.

I took a sip of my water, trying to calm my nerves. It had been a month since the concussion and I'm still not right, but I managed to convince everyone that I'm good to play in the championship game. Despite the lingering headaches and occasional dizziness, I refused to let it hold me back. This was the moment we had all worked so hard for, and I wasn't going to let a little setback stop me.

The locker room was filled with a mix of excitement and tension as we prepared for the biggest game of our season. I could feel the energy in the air, the collective determination radiating from my teammates. We went 12-4 in the strike shortened season, earning us a spot in the championship game against our old rivals, the Portland Thorns.

My current headache was at ease but still lingering, but I wouldn't let it hold me back. Was it pride? Maybe. But more than anything, it was my love for the game, my love for my team, and my desire to bring home the championship trophy.

Kayla paced back and forth in the locker room, clearly ready to play before she started speaking, "You know I'm the toughest street fighter on the planet and if King Kong and I went into an alley, only one of us would be coming out and it wouldn't be the monkey."

Before heading out onto the field, Alex and I shared a quiet moment together. She wrapped her arms around my waist , holding me close. "Say, if we win, I'll let you use the strap-on tonight," she whispered, her lips brushing against my ear. I couldn't help but laugh, feeling a sense of ease wash over me. Her sense of humor always managed to put me at ease.

"Really? I was thinking about having a quiet night in and watching a movie," I replied, my voice teasing as I leaned into her embrace.

She chuckled, her breath warm against my skin. "Well, that can still happen after," she said, before giving me a soft kiss. I kissed her back before we ended up making out. She let out a soft moan as I slipped my tongue into her mouth, and my hands found their way into her hair, pulling her closer.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. "One minute, ladies," Denise's voice boomed through the door. We quickly pulled away, but not before stealing one last quick kiss.

"Let's do this," Alex said, her voice full of determination.

I nodded, feeling a surge of adrenaline kick in. "Let's show them what we're made of," I added, my voice filled with excitement and confidence.

Before we all lined up in the tunnel, Kelley was hyping us up, "Level these bitches the first second you get a chance, alright?! Come on new guys!" She yelled, her voice filling the space.

The crowd roared as we made our way onto the field, the energy pulsing through the stadium. We all had a fire in our belly, ready to leave everything on the field and bring home the win. As the game began, we quickly took control of the ball, passing it back and forth with precision and skill.

Shortly after my concussion a month ago, all of the girls began calling Taryn 'The Mad Stork.' Part of it was because she could dish out punishment, and the other was because of intensifying the Stinger mystique of eccentricity. And that's exactly what she did on the field, relentlessly hounding the opposing team's midfield and defense. During one practice, the temperature was extremely hot, and I remember going out onto the field and seeing one of those tables from the Mexican restaurants with an umbrella over it. Taryn was sitting under it with a pitcher of margaritas on the table before yelling, "Come on girls, it's fun time! It's fun time! AAAAHHH!!" That was a crazy day.
