World meets Maya

{3} Shit, did that hurt?

Maya never actually seduced anyone these days, she's went on dates and flirted but for some reason she could never bring herself to have more with any of those people.
So, Maya never seduced Alyssa.

She was never going to.

It was only a few days away from summer when Maya, Lucas and Zay were standing  at the lockers close to Alyssa and her crew.

"So you been working on your flirting techniques Maya?" Lucas said amused

"Laugh all you want Texas, but if flirting was the plan it would totally succeed" I replied punching him on the shoulder

"oooo backing out so fast New York?" Lucas teased inching closer. "You wanna practice some on us"

I lean in and look at him incredulously "you wish"

Zay closed his locker with a bang looking right at us, making us jump apart. "Can you really blame her dude, Alyssa is a complete bitch" Zay visibly shudders

"You only say that because she ghosted you" I laugh out "twice"

"Laugh all you want Maya but you're the one who shouted how charming I am so girls would actually ask me out. So I know you care" He replies in response to my mockery.

"Ah the wonders of pitying" I say lifting my back of the lockers and walking towards Alyssa "you're about to witness some more right now"

Lucas gives me a look of worry as I shout Alyssa's name.

She gives me a fake smile as I walk closer "Oh hey Maya Hunterrr long time no see"

I roll my eyes as she looks me up and down, god I hate mean popular girls. "Yeah whatever Alyssa, I just wanted to say that a video was posted on an instagram tea account. I know so stupid but it looks like you haven't seen it yet"

She squints her eyes, looking like she already knows what I'm talking about "spit it out, ms. daddy issues" Her comment was so random and unnecessary that what I say next was pretty bad.

"Im so sorry that your personality is so lacking that your boyfriend made out with your best friend. You know since the pair of you share one braincell and you use it to put so much effort into looking almost pretty. "
She is really to blame for what happens next.

Which basically involves her lunging at me and me pulling her to the ground. It was a Win for me btw

I get so lost in beating this bitch up that I don't realise Lucas dragging me away with ease and the principal handing me notice of detention for a week in summer school. Is he even allowed to do that
I hear Lucas's friend Marcus hollering in the background, "SHITTTT THAT WAS BADASS HUNTER" Jamie gives him a glare "I mean, shit Alyssa did that hurt?"

Later in Mr.Matthew's empty classroom i'm holding ice (that farkle brought me, bless his soul) to my hand while Lucas berates me.

"Sundance, im fine at least now no one will speculate it was you telling me about it. They'll be so focused on the fight that blame will be placed elsewhere" I try to reassure him, it doesn't work.

"I don't care what happens to me Maya, another fight is not what you need on record right now" He sounds genuinely worried "plus you're hurt"

I put a hand on his shoulder "Huckleberry, i've had worse" Just as I stand up Zay walks in with a pink notice in his hand

"Guess who scored detention with you for a week!" He seems genuinely excited as I nod a thank you, Riley starts fighting with him for the notice.

"Riles, we both know you don't want the detention" I say laughing at the idea of Miss Sunshine staying out of school hours for anything but a club.

She pouts "but I promised to look after you"

I did the cringy thing and looked around the group and for some reason my eyes landed on Lucas last. "It's okay Riles I got all the looking after I need" I hop off the the table and start leading the group towards the exit of the school.

I'd been in more fights recently than i'd like to admit, but every-time I did, this group would be here to pick up the pieces. I just wish I'd find another way to cope with this void inside me that is filled by violence.

I guess Lucas senses i'm lost in my thoughts as he quietly asks me if i'm okay. I sense an all too familiar butterfly feeling so I just nod my head and catch up with Farkle.

"Hey Yoda" I say trying to reel Farkle back in from his mind, I know somethings happened between him and smackle and Im patiently waiting for him to share.

"Hey Maya. Isadora broke up with me"

okay wow that was faster than expected

"Im so sorry Farkle, did she say why" As I say this I see Zay side eye us. I instantly know he's behind this somehow.

"She did but i'm not ready to talk about it." Farkle says his shoulders drooping slightly. He pauses and he turns to look at me, he looks like he wants to say something but he's worried that i'll judge him.

"Farkle it's okay, you don't have to tell me right now and it's okay about Smackle too, she doesn't realise what she's missing" I ask him if I can hug him, which he permits without hesitation. He turns his head slightly "Thank you Maya, you're incredible"

"Aw Farkle, I know I am" I say but I can tell myself that the usually self confident tone I have has faded.

Zay steps between us "Okay im tired of you emos" he leads us into his car as we laugh. Riley gives me a hug before she gets into Lucas's truck.

Lucas hangs back a bit before getting in and so do I before getting into Zay's car, we both look at each other for a bit, it's weird and unsual so I offer him a small smile. He smiles back tentatively before ducking into the truck. I sigh for no reason at all and get into the car as well, while looking back at Riley and Lucas driving off.
