I, Smackle, the mastermind, had a plan. I had invited both Riley and Farkle to the school library under the guise of a group study session.
The text was meticulously written like this
Isadora: Riley and Farkle please be at the school library for a study session that I will definitely join you for.
As they arrived, I was there
hiding behind a bookshelf
watching them."Hey, Farkle, why are we the only ones here?" Riley asked, looking around the empty library. She seemed oddly nervous around Farkle and that's when I knew Operation Riarkle will succeed. The plan was perfect, the next part being my favourite.
Before Farkle could answer her, I emerged from behind the bookshelf, wearing a perfect disguise - it was a retro dress and cardigan with thin glasses and a grey wig tied into a bun.
"Bonjour! I am the...uh...library...spirit!" I declared in a very realistic French accent, "I am here to guide you to...uh...knowledge!"
Riley and Farkle exchanged confused glances. I realised they must be confused on why the librarian was here helping them. Since usually I'm their library guide.
"Okaay Mrs French Librarian spirit, do you mind if I have a couple words with you?" Farkle questioned, his tone indicated humour, but in his sentence I could not find any.
Nevertheless, I followed Farkle out the library doors. The door was barely shut before he started speaking. "Isadora what on earth are you doing?" His voice was calm and exasperated. He was clearly not fooled by my disguise.
"Okay, okay, I lied," I admitted, pulling off my chunky earrings, "I wanted you guys to spend some time together and maybe...you know...realize something."
Farkle sighed "Smackle, it's the second last day of school why would we need a study session."
I raised my eyebrows at him "You stop studying for summer?" Who would willingly give up learning new things.
"Of course I wouldn't but Riley certainly does" He states incredulously. He holds my hand "Smackle, I have already made the realisation that the feelings I had for Riley as a kid, may be real today but we only broke up four days ago and you gotta give me some time."
I instantly get worried that he means he needs time from me, when I broke up with him I thought 24 hours would be enough. I mean it was enough for me but I leave that part out. "I don't want anything to be awkward between us Farkle. I appreciate you in my life."
Farkle smiles at me and takes off my wig and glasses. "I promise you Isadora we are going to be just fine, forever. As for me and Riley, we'll I'm still figuring that out"
I purse my lips together at the sight of his saddened face. "What's wrong?"
"Riley and Lucas are together and I don't think they're going to be apart anytime soon. It feels wrong trying to make that happen so, i'm just gonna hide my feelings." He says handing back my wig and glasses. "I'm sorry you're binder is gonna have to be hidden away for a while"
I feel as though I should tell him about mines and Zay's plans but for some reason I hold back. Instead I say "Don't give up hope" and turn to leave him with that.
Until of course I walk right into Zay and we are knocked back. We both start apologising before I notice that Maya is with him, watching us with scrutinising detail. I immediately piece it together. "Okay what did you tell her?" I demand, looking into Zay's eyes.
He shuffles on his feet and throws a wave to Farkle, who hesitantly throws a wave back. Zay slowly snakes an arm around me and I nearly switch off when he says "My love, we are just here to help you tell Farkle that me and you are madly in love!"
A simultaneous "WHAT!?" comes from me and Farkle, Maya stares even more into me at the exclamation. "I mean, yes, oh yes!" I try to cover my mistake my putting my arm around Zay.
The air is silent and I have already began my plan to murder Zay.
