"Stop it," hissed Hermione in exasperation for the umpteenth time, sitting at the desk on front of (Y/N).
"Sorry." mumbled (Y/N) genuinely, which took the Gryffindor by surprise. She couldn't help but bounce her leg and drum her fingers on the desk. She was nervous because Transfiguration was never her strong suit. Hell, she didn't even know how she got into this class.
The bell rang and (Y/N) wanted nothing more than to dash out from the classroom.
"Miss Granger," spoke Professor McGonagall as everyone proceeded to leave the classroom. "A word with you, if you don't mind."
"Yes, Professor?"
"Look, Miss Granger. I know you're the top in my class," began Professor McGonagall, the Gryffindor trying to be as modest as possible. "And I would really appreciate it if you could possibly tutor (Y/L/N)—"
Hermione opened her mouth to object, already beginning to shake her head.
"If you do help the poor girl improve, I'll give you extra marks." she finished off, knowing that the idea of extra marks would intrigue Hermione. She gave a smile as the latter gave a curt nod. "Very well, I will have a word with (Y/L/N) and tell her to meet you at the library later."
A few hours go by and the school day ends, giving Hermione half an hour before having to tutor (Y/N). She decided to spend her extra time by the lake, her camera in her hands.

She looked at the live photo she just took, the water moving and the tree leaves falling. The angles were all right, the lighting was to perfection. But she didn't feel anything just by looking at it, it was just a mere picture. No story, no emotions.
"Books don't help with everything, huh?" she sighed to herself. She had read every book in the library as to how to capture the perfect picture, but the one thing she lacked was the ability to think outside of the instructions printed on a book. She took in the view once more before making her way back to the castle and off to the library.
"Surprised to see you in a library." greeted Hermione casually, finding the Slytherin slouched down on the sofa in the library, a bag of gummy bears in her hand. The latter gave a roll of her eyes, throwing a red gummy bear in her mouth.
She expected (Y/N) to tease her relentlessly, or flirt with her the entire time. The sight of the girl behaving seriously for once took her by surprise. It was odd to see (Y/N) like this, without her fanclub, without her ruffling her hair every minute and putting on a smug look, without her arrogant and cocky demeanor.
(Y/N) was very reluctant to even agree on this whole tutor thing. She didn't know much about Hermione, but based on what everyone said, and her little interactions with the girl, she knew that Miss-Know-It-All would be a nightmare when it comes to teaching. And due to their very short history, (Y/N) knew that the girl wouldn't go easy on her.
"So," began Hermione as she sat down next to the girl, placing her heavy textbook on the table on front of her. "Where are you in Transfiguration?" she questioned, looking at the latter.
"Uhm," replied (Y/N), looking like she had no absolute clue. Her expression made the Gryffindor gape at her. "Gummy bear?" she offered innocently.
Hermione sighed, but she couldn't help but suppress a small laugh, one that caught (Y/N)'s attention. The two had very little interactions, and the ones that they had were full of relentless teasing or harsh insults.
"How did you even get into Professor McGonagall's class?" she queried, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. She reached for the bag of gummy bears and picked through them, choosing the white and greens only.
"My father." answered (Y/N) unenthusiastically, in fact, she looked embarassed of her answer. She could see the Gryffindor looking at her with a curious look, still unable to understand. "Wealthy. Pays his way through everything."
"Oh." responded Hermione with a curt nod. She realized this was the first actual conversation she had with the Slytherin, first time of getting to know the girl.
"Anyway." began Hermione in a business-like way again. She wasn't here to befriend the girl that she hated. "So let's start from the basics.."
Hermione had a tough time trying to teach the Slytherin, and Miss-Know-It-All had nearly zero patience when it came to anything. But she decided to brush it off this one time, seeing the latters eyebrows furrow in concentration, actually taking notes for once, no insults or teases coming out of her mouth.
"We can revise it all again tomorrow." suggested Hermione as she stretched, realising hours had gone by already. "Same time tomorrow?"
"Sure," nodded (Y/N), feeling the corners of her lips tug up as the Gryffindor gave her a gentle smile. She reached for a red gummy bear, which was all that was left, the Gryffindor had eaten all the other colors.
Maybe tutors weren't so bad after all.
