"I'm sorry!"

"Save your breath." spat Hermione with her arms crossed, rushing up the moving stairs, the stairs moved before (Y/N) could follow her.

...

"I'm sorry.."

The Gryffindor scoffed in response.

Three days passed, her anger with (Y/N) didn't subside. Hermione went back to her dorm to find the Slytherin on her bed, a box of chocolates next to her. "If you're sorry, then you'd give me the space that I want." snarked Hermione harshly, rolling her eyes so much that you'd think she'd be able to see her brain.

"But I don't want to be away from you, cupcake." frowned (Y/N) as she followed the fuming girl, circling her arms around the latter's waist. She could feel the Gryffindor's hesitance, almost leaning to her.

"No," began Hermione as she pushed her away, she brought her hand to her temple, massaging it as she took a deep breath. "You don't get to fucking do that to me. You—" she pointed a finger at (Y/N), her hand falling as she let out an exasperated laugh.

"You take advantage of my patience— you take advantage of the fact that you know how to get me!" she shouted, her face flushing red. "One smile. One touch. One nickname. One sweet sentence— then what?? My world is spinning again because of you. How much more am I going to give you, (Y/N)? Why does it feel like I'm the only one in this— whatever this is! I'm sick of it!"

"..." (Y/N) watched as the girl fell to her knees, trembling and sobbing. She didn't catch her this time. "Do you want me to go, Hermione?" she asked in barely a whisper, afraid that if she spoke too loud her voice would crack.

"Go! Leave!"

And so (Y/N) walked away. She walked away because she knew she still had one more chance with Hermione, so she decided to give her space for tonight. The Gryffindor looked up, she couldn't believe the girl had actually left. Her heart constricted even more, she didn't actually want her to leave. She picked herself up and settled on her bed, eyeing the box of chocolates. She kicked them off her bed and went to sleep.

(Y/N) waited her patiently the very next day by the Great Hall, a rose in her hand. But her face fell along with her heart when the Gryffindor walked past her as if she was nobody.

And there went the final thread of hope.
