Jimin pulled away from the kiss, his breath ragged, forehead still resting against hers. Their chests heaved, breaths mingling in the charged silence.
Y/n’s hands trembled as they rested on his shoulders, her heart pounding in a chaotic rhythm. Jimin’s fingers remained firm on the nape of her neck, his other hand gripping her waist as if anchoring himself to reality.
Their gazes lingered, eyes darting between each other’s lips. The heat between them was undeniable, but so was the storm of emotions raging beneath the surface.
Jimin's voice was low, but the bitterness in his tone was unmistakable. "I felt bad, really bad. The way he called your name and looked at you."
He took a deep breath, jaw tightening before continuing. "And you… you smiled at him. For him. Do you even remember the last time you smiled at me?"
His forehead left hers, and his hand moved from her waist to her chin, forcing her to look up at him. The intensity in his gaze made her breath hitch.
"I will distance myself from you so much that you will yearn to be close to me." His voice was cold, merciless. "Now it's my turn, Y/n. I hate you. You are to blame for everything that has happened, and you will always be the culprit in my eyes."
He let go of her chin with a sharp jerk, making her face snap to the side. She inhaled shakily, trying to hold back the tears burning her eyes.
Jimin’s stare darkened, the muscles in his jaw clenching. "You know what makes me angry?" He asked, voice thick with suppressed rage.
Y/n swallowed hard, her lips parted slightly as she stared at him, waiting for the answer she already dreaded.
"I'm not angry because he was your boyfriend. That’s normal—everyone has a past." His tone was eerily calm, but the way his eyes burned into hers sent chills down her spine.
"I’m angry because after our marriage, when he used to sneak into our room at night… when he met you, when he kissed you—why didn’t you tell me? Why did you hide it from everyone!?"
His hand shot forward, gripping her jaw with bruising force.
"Answer me, Y/n Choi!" He growled.
She winced, a pained whimper escaping her lips as she struggled against his hold. Jimin’s chest rose and fell erratically, fury evident in every inch of his being.
Then, with a scoff, he shoved her away. Y/n staggered back, her head hanging low. She had no defense, no justification—because deep down, she knew his anger was justified.
Jimin exhaled sharply and turned to leave, but before he could take another step, she grabbed his wrist.
"P-Please wait, listen to m-me." Her voice wavered, thick with emotions she could no longer suppress.
Jimin froze, glancing down at her hand holding onto him. His first instinct was to snatch it away, but something about her trembling fingers made him pause. Against his better judgment, he turned back to face her.
"Tell me, what is the problem now?" He asked, his voice dripping with exhaustion and irritation.
Y/n hesitated, then slowly released his hand. She looked up at him, her eyes desperate, searching. "I-I know you won’t listen to me… but still, c-can’t you leave the position of mafia leader?" Her voice was barely above a whisper, yet it carried the weight of a thousand unspoken fears.
For a moment, there was silence.
Then, unexpectedly, Jimin let out a sharp laugh.
A loud, mocking, bitter laugh.
