"Emma! It's great to see you again! I need to discuss something with you, and ask you some questions."
His security guard motioned for me to sit in a chair at his desk. I don't know why he needs security guards, he literally is the only other purple on Earth. "Of course, what's up?" Seriously? 'What's up?' Get it together Stephanie. "So we've been running some tests since our last meeting, and we've been thinking about some new technologies that we could explore." I find it funny how he says 'we' when he really means himself. "What exactly?" Alexander had his security guard leave the room. "I think I have an idea to create a device that could help people identify if they have abilities earlier on instead of in their teen years. This could help people get education and learn about these abilities sooner on and have more knowledge about this." That sounds cool, that'll probably be a lot of testing though. "That sounds awesome! How would we accomplish this?" He laughed, "we're still working out the loose ends, but it would involve combining my power with yours." I gasped, "what?! That's possible?!"
His assistant came into his office and set some papers on Alexander's desk. "Like I said, we're working everything out, but with the results from your test, the charts are showing that it's possible. Nothing like this has ever been done or tried before." This sounds scary, but if it helps people I'll do it. "Now, have you been practicing?" I nod yes, and hold out my arm and face my palm towards the ceiling. A concentrated beam of dark purple energy forms, spiraling within my hand. I can easily shape and summon my energy so this is a breeze. "Yes, although I don't do much in my training class because the teacher doesn't know what to do with me."
Alexander laughs again, "I can relate, when I had the same training class the teacher at the time gave up on teaching me." People think that Alexander is a scary man, I don't see why, it might be because of his abilities. "Anyways, is there anything else you need to discuss with me sir?" He thinks, "I believe that's all Ms. Clark, you're free to meet your Mother in the waiting room. Have a good day." He smiled, and started going through the papers on his desk. "Thank you, and you as well." I walk out of the stairs, and I can faintly hear Alexander say to his assistant, "Tell my apprentices to send up their research, it's about time we start this project." I wonder who his apprentices are, maybe he's hiding other purples, I'm not sure.
I walk downstairs and see my Mom, "hey Mom! No testing this time so I'm good to go home." She gets up, "yay! Let's go home, Dad called and he seems upset for some reason." My Dad is always mad at something, I wish for once he could stay sober for my family.
Eventually get to her car and we head home. "Do you know why Dad is upset? He's always upset at you for no reason." My Mom sighs, "I don't know honey, maybe something at work upset him and he needs comfort." Work or not, maybe don't harass your wife? "I wanna punch him sometimes, don't tell him." She giggled, "me too, me too." I know she loves my Dad, he's just a jerk.
Time passes and we get back to the house, and as we walk up I can hear yelling. "Maybe get your lazy a** off the couch for once and take care of this family!" Dad and Wyatt fight a lot when he's here. "You don't know anything about family, you can't even leave my d*** house!" He turned and saw us, "oh, you're home, what's the plan for dinner?" I rolled my eyes at him, "let Mom have a break, make yourself food." Wyatt must've done something bad because he's not normally this mad. My Dad grabs my arm, and it burns, he's hurting me badly. It feels like when Ben hurt me, but not as bad because Dad is an orange. I pushed him away from me, and my hands started glowing purple. "Don't touch me, just because you're upset doesn't mean you can hurt people.
My arm burned and stung, why does it always have to be my arm getting hurt? It was bright orange, but he backed away. "Hey watch it, you wouldn't hurt your Dad would you?" My Mom furrows her eyebrows, "you just hurt your own daughter, are you stupid? Robert I'm sick of this, if you don't stop drinking I'll ... I'll-" "kick you out. Dad, you're ruining this family." He sighs, "fine whatever," he tries to leave the room. My Mom moves in front of him, "no, I'm serious this time, you have ONE month to quit, or you're out." She hugs him, and he actually hugs back. "Okay, I'm sorry honey, I'll work on it." I'm still mad at him, but hopefully he means it.
A/N: SO! A lot has happened this chapter, but there's even more to come. Steph's Dad is getting some character development, and we love that for him. Anyways, thank you so much for reading!
