Chapter 3

Saturday, November 15th

I woke up and my clock says it's 10. I really slept in wow. "Ow, what is that?" I got up and looked at my arm, I forgot that I was burned. "Oh yeah, I should probably rewrap that." I stand up and go to my bathroom, and look for the pack of bandages the nurse gave me. I wrap it carefully around my arm and secure it. "Hey honey, you doing alright?" My Mom looked at me concerned, the nurse called her about my arm and the whole incident. "Yeah, it just hurts a lot. The nurse said the scar is going to be blue, so that's cool" I sigh and my Mom hugs me on the side that isn't hurt. "You're gonna be okay, I'm proud of you for being so strong."

I smiled and got ready, I'm going to Emma's house before the party to hang out. She wanted to make sure I was doing alright and she didn't want me around Ethan. She always glares at him whenever he's near me, and snaps at him, it's odd. But I make breakfast, eat it, and say goodbye to my parents and head out. Emma just lives down the street from me so I just walk over. I kind of want to check on Ethan but I don't want to put that much effort into that right now.

I knock on Emma's door, and I can hear from inside that she said to just come in, I'm assuming her parents aren't home. I find her in the kitchen making something that smells really good. "Are you hungry?" She looked up at me and held a pan up. "Heck I just ate breakfast," she looks at me weird, "I also just woke up." She laughs, "you're silly." I smile and head up to the kitchen to join her. "Sophie and Grace will be here soon, Anthony isn't going to the party. He's being lame and studying." I roll my eyes, "he's always studying!"

After about an hour of Emma and I watching a movie, Sophie gets here, and a little after that, Grace arrives. We just sit around and continue watching movies, and we formed a cuddle pile. "I'll be right back," I get up and walk to the bathroom to change my bandage. Grace follows me, "you good?" I jump a little, she startled me a little bit. "Yeah, sorry I just need to fix my bandages." She looks at my arm, "Ben did... this?" Grace said, worried and angry. "Yeah, but Ethan stepped in to help." Grace frowns, "girl even if he did that, you need to leave him. I'm glad that he helped, for once. But after everything he has done, you could do better." I roll my eyes, "I'll think about it."

I heard a loud noise come from the living room and Grace and I went to investigate. Emma was showing off her new abilities by making a bright string of green energy, she accidentally let it hit a blanket and it set on fire. "S***" Emma cursed and ran to get water. Her parents wouldn't find out if we just put it out in time. Emma came running back to the living room with a hefty bucket of water. The fire sizzled as Emma poured water on it, what was left was a blanket with a huge charred hole with a burnt green color. "Well that was smart," I sneered. "Hey be nice, at least she can do something like that." I turned to Sophie, "yeah," I snapped and sat on the couch and curled up with a blanket. "Hey, it's okay, you're perfect just the way you are Steph." Emma touched my cheek and rubbed it soothingly. It felt as if a wave of electric current went through me with her touch. That was weird.

She sat next to me and I just paused everything mentally and tried to figure out what just happened. I must've looked confused because Emma looked at me and said, "you okay Steph?" She smiled a certain way that looked so comforting and empathetic. "Yeah, just thinking about random things." I awkwardly smiled back and she said, "yeah? Wanna talk about it?" "To be completely honest, I'm not even sure what it is, so I don't know how to talk about it." I laughed nervously. "SHHH" Grace and Sophie aggressively whispered at us. They were actually watching the movie, and here I was panicking about my best friend touching me.
