NARRATOR
Meme stirred up in her sleep and remove Sandile’s arms around her.
Sandile: Where are you going?
Meme: To the kitchen. I’m thirsty.
Rolling on his back, he closed his eyes nodding. Meme kicked off the blankets and bent down pretending to be looking for her shoes but instead she pulled out a black plastic. Carefully, she opened it and took what was inside.
Sandile: Babe what’s that?
Her heart skipped a beat. She quickly closed the plastic.
Meme: I was just looking for my shoe and found this plastic over here. I think the nanny or Sibahle mistakenly placed it here.
Sandile: The nanny doesn’t enter our bedroom nor does the cleaner.
Meme giggled nervously.
Meme: Did I say the nanny? Maybe I’m the one who missed placed it. Oh, now I remember I bought Sibahle something and hid it under the bed because she was here when I was unpacking.
She giggled leaping up to her feet with the plastic.
Meme: You know how curious your daughter is. Let me quickly sneak this on her room.
Sandile: What did you buy? Let me see.
Her eyes widen as he drags his body to lean on the headboard.
Meme: No, baby I don’t want to ruin the surprise. You can’t keep a secret especially when it comes to her.
He smiles.
Sandile: Hurry up then.
She made her way to the door but stopped on her tracks.
Meme: Remind me again baby, when are we going for our honeymoon?
Sandile: Soon baby.
Meme: Which soon? Tommorrow soon? Next week soon or next month?
Sandile: Soon my love. I’m trying to make sure Kagiso is in good condition first.
Meme breathed heavily. That name again. First it was the stupid wife now it’s the best friend? Why couldn’t this man listen to her just for once?
Meme: Kagiso is old enough to take care of himself.
Sandile: I know that but his a work freak. He loves his job and it’s stressing him. The doctor said he must avoid stress.
Meme: That doesn’t mean we should put our lives on hold because of him. He must find a hobby or something.
Sandile: Why are we discussing this at night?
Meme: I’m trying to understand why should everything stand still because of one person who is a none factor in our lives.
Sandile’s eyebrows snap together.
Sandile: (confused) What do you mean a none factor?
Meme: I mean his all over our business like a bad rash. Every time you have to take a decision you go through him first. I said we must sell the businesses and move to another country you went and told him that.
Sandile: I’m not comfortable in living in a foreign land and it has nothing to do with him. He is my business partner, lawyer and a friend.
Meme: The are many good lawyers I know out there and you can find yourself one. You can still make new friends and business partners too.
Sandile: No.
Meme: Baby can’t you see that Kagiso is holding you back?
Sandile yawned in his hands.
