SANDILE
Parking the car, I close the window and step out. I lock it and walk to the garage door and close then make my way inside. I frown as I find the door unlock.
Me: Aunty.
I yell flicking the lights on and march to look for her.
Me: Aunty.
Soft music starts playing in the living room. I make my way there and find the lights dimmed.
Me: Aunty.
A figure moves on the chair near the stairs catching my attention. I squint my eyes then march back to the wall and turn on the lights.
Jen: (smiling) Hey stranger.
She uncross her legs and leaps up to her feet.
Me: You’re here.
She nods vigorously stumbling towards me.
Me: You’re here.
Jen: I’m here.
I drop the keys and open my arms for her. She runs and jumps to my lap. I tightly hold her and spin around.
Me: Fuck you’re here.
She giggles.
Jen: I’m here.
Me: How? When we spoke you said you were not ready.
Jen: Put me down first.
I chuckle walking to the chair and chair and lower myself on it and pull her to my lap.
Jen: Dr Makhanya discharged me again after our session. I’ll be seeing him thrice a week.
Me: If I knew you come I would have made it special.
Jen: Lucky you have me who thinks for you. I made it special.
I grin.
Me: How?
Jen: You’ll find out soon. The night is still young.I embrace her again.
Me: I still can’t believe you’re here.
Jen: And I’m here to stay. I hope you’re ready because I will annoy you for life.
I quickly pull out and look at her.
Me: Did just say I think you did?
She pecks my lips.
Jen: Nigga you better keep up because I’m not the same anymore.
I laugh crushing my lips on hers. She pulls out shaking her head.
Jen: Nah, you’re not about to ruin the night.
I smile raising my hands in surrender.
Jen: From here onwards forward we go. What happened in the past stays in the past.
Me: Agreed.
Jen: If there was someone else in my absence please let me know now so history won’t repeat itself.
Me: Would you believe me if I say I was waiting for you.
Jen: You don’t have to lie to me. I will understand because of circumstances.
Me: I’m serious. I’ve been abstaining.
She laughs.
Jen: Askies but you didn’t strike as someone as who can do that.
Me: I was serious when I said I want us to fix what we had. The problem that made us clash all the time was that none of us wanted to listen to the other. You had your baggage and so did I.
