Chapter 44: False freedom

"I never thought that you are the one who will deliver, you don't have some lackey to get the work done?" I jeer at him.

"Of course I have who do you think of me? I just wanted to-" he stop, as he sees the glare of Mila.

"Well, anyway show me the slaves." I said trying to move the topic.

"You will not introduce me to your companions?" He ask

"There is no need for that." I answer with sarcastic tone.

"There are the slaves that you bought, and some corpses. It's hard to sneak out this product to eye of public you know?" He said jeering.

"I got it." I said and give him some money, he definitely asking some tips for the delivery.

"Tis' not what I mean tho..." He said a small voice, I ignored him.

After he move out the slaves and some of the corpses i bid farewell with him, he disappointedly go with a slump shoulder moving out of the town.

I look at the slaves that I bought, there are ten dwarves, 4 females and 6 males, 5 elves 2 males 3 females not including Primrose, and two male and female beastmen.

"I'm sure that you know that all of you are slaves and you are going to work for me." I said looking at them, right now me, Salvia and Mila are confronting the slaves, I wanted to speak with them of what their position in this society. One of them raise her hands, if I remember this is the person who tried to sacrifice herself to protect Primrose. "You may speak." I give permission.

"I'm sorry for interrupting you master but I just wanted to know the current situation of Primrose." She said with a worried face.

"Hmm... Where is she by the way Salvia?" Now that I realize she ain't here.

"She said she wanted to train together with my sisters." Hmm... What a carefree pet, she doesn't know her place I will punish her later.

"Maybe she just wanted to be a punching bag of my soldiers and cover it by saying she is training." I said a little bit of tease. I see the woman sigh of relief.

"Anyway all of you are going to work here, dwarves will be assign to mining, the elves to gardening and the beastmen will be attending to the monsters that will be rear and domisticated." I announce, still they have depression in their face. "You are free to do what you want here." When I said that everyone look at me, confused of what did I mean. "All of you are free here, you can start family, do the things you wanted as long as you work, you are not restricted, you can even request anything you wanted as long as it will be helpful to this town." Everyone now looking at me straight with wonders in their eyes.

"Excuse me, Master? Are you truly honest with your words?" A man with thick beard, one of the dwarf manage to gather his courage to ask me.

"Do you perhaps wanted to be a real slave?" I ask him looking him in the eyes.
"No, that's not what I meant, I just can't believe on what I'm hearing." He said, everyone now have hopes in their eyes.

"Everything I said is true, the only rule is you are free within this town but outside you are not permitted to go far from here, if you tried to runaway towards your home, Hellebore come." I call my pet wolf and without a few seconds  he appear and made everyone gasp of what animal they saw. "This wolf already knows your scent, you can run you can hide, but he will chase you if I command him also their are contract." Now everyone have fear. "Remember you are citizen here but you still are slave." I warn them and everyone become dejected again. "Tho, being free here doesn't sound bad at me. As I said you can start family here building your own lineage."

Everyone doesn't really know how to feel, yeah they are free but they are not at the same time, but its not really my problem if they are not happy with that small freedom, they can keep the dissatisfaction inside them, I buy them, basically I own their life they have no rights to complaint. Tho if they accept this small freedom they have inside the town they basically a normal citizen and just an ordinary worker. "Needless to say despite you being a slave your work is payed, you have salary to receive with your work that's why as I said you are free inside this town, once the whole town will be renovated, we will welcome some merchant that will station here, with salaries you can buy things you wanted." I said to them.

"We already accepted the fact that we are slave, but I never heard a slave being paid by their own owner. I'm thankful with that to be honest, at least we are not constricted to a free labor and we are willing to work under with you, we dwarves are good at mining and metallurgy and our whole life is dedicated to work at caves. Please we are in your care." With that word of the man he signal his group to kneel at me.

"We- we are also willing to work with you Master, use us whenever you wanted." The elves also kneel at me.

"We also are willing." The beastmen with rabbit ears also kneels.

"I'm glad you realize the benefits of you worker under me, I need you to help me rebuild this town and the prosperity of our future." I proclaim.

"Yes, master!" Everyone shout I unison.
