Reflecting on my life lessons,
experiences, hardships,
I realize that they have made me stronger.
However, when I think back to my old self, I come across a pure and innocent soul that was molded and shaped by the rules, and expectations of the world around me.
I reflected that there was no need for them to conform to the expectations of others.
They should have been encouraged more often but instead, all they got was discouragement
They should have been taught gently that expectations are harmful but instead, they met with disappointment and setbacks along the way.
They should have been protected a little so that they would have had a chance to rely on someone
but instead, all they felt was a burden.
As I look at my old self I can say that while moving ahead I have left some things behind, taken some with me, and lost some to the passage of time.
