-Ruarc Brennan-

I must've paced my garden at least one hundred times before Fewesi's voice came from my phone. Telling me that they had found Quan in the middle of nowhere. I told the others, and we decided that Sara would travel on Aubrey's back. Kenji would join Aubrey in wolf form, and we would all run until we were about two miles away. Then we met up with the angels, and they told us about the cave.

It was apparently extremely small, with around four rooms inside. There was an aura of magic around it, which could potentially be a shield, and it was extremely easy to hear what was going on inside. The two-mile walk there was quiet, and we were all on edge, but it didn't take long for us to get to the cave.

We lurked in the shadows, until we gathered a good idea of the cave. It was clear Quan was near the back, I could hear him sending sarcastic remarks to someone.

There was no mistaking the person in the main part of the cave as anyone else but Quan's father, the two looked eerily similar, despite Quan being far skinnier and having longer hair.

"You don't have much time," Quan's father said with a sinister grin. He then stood up and backed away, sinking into the fire which pooled in the corner of the cave. He melted into the pool.

"Is he actually gone?" Luka asked in astonishment.

I couldn't concentrate on his question as I was already moving to one of the other rooms in the cave, the one which Quan's father had pointed to. I stopped in my tracks as soon as I laid eyes on the back wall.

There were two Quans, embedded in the rock. They were both burnt and cut in several places, which caused my hands to ball into fists. They were identical. They weren't wearing shirts, and parts of their trousers were singed. The lack of shirts meant I had to force myself to look them in their eyes, to stop myself from being distracted.

"Oh God," I said breathlessly as I realised what was going on. There was a cracking noise above us, and the ground shook. I wouldn't have a lot of time for this. "Aubrey, Kenji, I need your help." I turned to them briefly before rushing over and beginning to examine the Quan on the right.

"Stupid idiot," he muttered and rolled his eyes. I ignored him, needing to concentrate on finding the best place to hit the rock.

"Ruarc, Cappi's here!" Fewesi yelled from the other room. "They're chained up, I can't get them out."

I cursed under my breath and retreated, nodding to the werewolves as they took my place. They would be able to get them out, hopefully.

I moved to the next part of the cave, which was considerably smaller. I hadn't seen anyone look so worn and frightened as Cappi was right now. They were in a small cage, with chains restricting their movements. They didn't even acknowledge our presence, which brought more worry than the sight of them did.

The chains were bolted into the cave wall. There were metal rings keeping them attached to the cage and the cave wall behind. There were rings around their upper and lower arms, attached to the chains, and then there was one big metal ring around their stomach.

"Fuck," I muttered. It was easy enough to break the cage open, which was even more worrying than it would've been if I had to search for a key. I realised that it was easy for a reason when I tried to remove the metal rings from around Cappi. They didn't budge, but an electric current shot through my fingertips and caused my whole body to buzz.

"Exactly," Jade responded. "I'm not sure how to get them out, we'll need to break the cave wall."

"The cave wall is already breaking," Fewesi pointed out hurriedly. "The entire cave is collapsing. We need to get them out."
