-Quan Leung-

After nearly dying, I didn't appreciate the fairy who was lying on my bed right beside me and my vampire boyfriend. Modu was directly threatening us and asking to bargain, wondering if we'd give him a better deal then what they had with my father, the very thought of that was ridiculous to me, But if he did decide to go back, then Cappi would be found out, my mother's soulmate will be killed, and he could lead my father right to us.

I had grown tired of this long ago, roundabout the time when I was lying in a hotel room with a wound in my stomach, but now I was ultimately exhausted.

"What could we possibly offer you?" I asked with a roll of my eyes. I had far passed pretending to be polite. "We're not even involved in fairy society. Human money is pretty much useless to you, as is power in the human world."

Modu leaned back and put their hands behind their head. "Well, my dear young boy, what you could do is be creative." He wiggled his eyebrows. "Your father gave me my freedom, but he promised me a world full of chaos and worshippers who I could feed off."

"Feed off?" Jade asked suspiciously, her eyes narrowed. Jade and Kenji were both tense and in a position which suggested they were about to pounce on the fairy, but we all knew that we wouldn't be able to do any physical damage. "What do you mean?"

Modu sighed and gave a mocking shake of his head. "I would've thought the little one would educate you more." He looked at us like an adult on Christmas morning when kids were asking if Santa had come. "Fairies feed off energy, whether it be good or bad or mediocre. The more energy we get, the more powerful we are. It's really simple and easy to understand, which is probably why you're struggling to grasp it."

Ruarc scoffed and rolled his eyes. "And so, if the world is plagued into chaos, you'll have a world full of negative energy to feed off?" He tightened his hold on me a little bit, which I strangely appreciated.

"I suppose it's not that difficult to understand," Modu sighed. He seemed disappointed that Ruarc had understood him. "But yes, Chang promised me a world of power." Modu's eyes glowed with a menacing and insane shimmer which would only be caused by years of isolation and torture in fairy jail.

"But that also suggests that you could feed off positive energy," Jade pointed out with a glimmer of hope. "Why don't you work on making the world a better place so that you could feed off joy and happiness?" Even I wanted to scoff at the pure thoughts of an angel.

"Too boring and dull," Modu replied. But it was almost as though he had considered it, or maybe he had expected it as soon as he noticed she was an angel. "I'm not the kind of guy who wants world peace."

"You'd prefer to watch it burn," I remarked. "Which is why you grouped up with a fire witch who wanted just that."

"Exactly," Modu answered, gesturing dramatically to the air around him. "And you're going to ruin it with a plan which just might work. I can't have that, now, can I?"

I figured that he was only here to cause more trouble with us. "You just want to cause chaos here. You could feed off our struggles and worries and pain." I paused for a moment. "Which is what you caused an awful amount of in this room."

Modu stood from the bed and gave a dramatic bow. "You're welcome."

It seemed that it was then when Ruarc clicked on. "You caused Quan to go into a coma?" His voice was slow and dangerous. "You're the one who slowed Quan's heart rate to the point where he was barely alive?"

Now wasn't the time to think about how attractive Ruarc is, but that's what I spent that next minute doing. His possessiveness had been very irritating when we had first met and he had been hired as a bodyguard, but now it was one of my favourite features of his personality. It made me feel loved and cared for, which was something I had never really felt at all throughout my life.
