I POURED THE TEA FROM THE PAN INTO three cups and gently walked towards the verandah. Ahaan and Naani were busy planting small seeds in her little kitchen garden while I placed the tray of cups on the table.

Sliding in the armchair, I observed both of them in silence. Ahaan was very obedient like he is with everyone. He was charismatic and serious, no wonder Naani became a great fan of him within a week of our stay here.

Whereas things between me and her were quite in the red zone, considering my disability to shut my mouth at the wrong times. I always land myself in trouble.

Meza! It's been 4 hours since your husband ate lunch. Aren't you gonna ask him for dinner?

Aunty, first of all, he isn't a kid to whom I should keep feeding. And if he is hungry, he can ask for food. By god's grace, his vocals are fine.

Meza, your husband is out there washing dishes whereas as you? You are rolling in the bed!

I couldn't reply to that, because Ahaan and I fought about what to watch on his phone before we sleep. He stormed out of the room after I snatched his phone and played a k drama. He warned me it would not be good for me. I just didn't know he was gonna attack me like that by washing the clean utensils just so Naani could catch him. The nerve of that man!

Even though she gets on my nerves, we still balance each other somehow. She is quirky and gets my sarcastic tongue, getting back at me as smoothly as possible. That made me respect her even more. I silently admired her nature but I would die to admit it.

Both of them turned to me and had different reactions. Ahaan seemed amused while Naani was surprised.

"Chai?"

"Sure" Ahaan stood up and went to wash his hands while Naani stood on her feet slowly. She eyes the tea warily and then turns to me. "What did you mix in it?"

"You do remember where you kept the rat poison right?" I smirked.

Her expression fell and she stared at me dumbfounded. I grinned at this point and then laughed a little.

"I'm joking Naani. I didn't mix anything in it" She wasn't convinced.

"If anything happens, you will be the prime suspect. I and the world know I'm not going anywhere, anytime soon. Just in case, I've already written a letter for the police to find out later." My jaw dropped at her words before I burst out laughing.

"Alright, I take back my words. I'm drinking it too!" I picked up a cup and then raised my lips. "see?"

She sighed before walking towards the water to wash her hands. Ahaan came back and sat beside me. He has a peaceful expression on his face as if he is satisfied from the inside. Content. And it put me at unease. He was enjoying this drama too much.

"Did you mix anything in it?" He asked quietly. I groaned and was one second away from throwing the cups away. Why do they think as such of me? Am I a threat to them?

"No, but I will now!" I glared and snatched his cup. He smiled sheepishly at me.

"Come on! Give it to me. I'm craving it" He tried to take it from me but I moved my hand away, frowning and not believing him.

"Meza!" Ahaan's voice dropped low and it somehow sounded sexy. Remind me never to think like that again.

"Meza, give it to me." He leaned near me from his chair. I moved away.

"Why? It's poisoned right, I'll drink it." I brought it to my lips and took a sip of it. He sighed and pulled back to his place.

"I'm sorry!" He gave me his puppy eyes, desperation in them and I nearly melted at the way he made them look. I slowly brought away the cup and handed it to him. With a small smile, he brought it near his lips.
