RECAP: Meza helps Ahaan make a new sister to show her generosity.

««•••»»

ANOTHER TEAR FELL FROM MY EYE, AS  I sniffed loudly. The closed room with small ventilation stopped my cries from echoing as I hissed a little at the pain.

I brought the tissue near my nose and blew it up harshly. Wiping my tears again, I hiccupped a little more. It was painful. Too painful.

I couldn't take this anymore. My heart felt heavy as the same scene repeated again and again in front of my eyes, haunting me and promising nightmares.

My lips wobbled even more, and I felt a lump forming in my throat. My cheeks were red and stained with tears as I cried once again.

"One day..." I whispered to myself. Holding it tightly, I moved it again and again, the painful sound engraving in my mind forever.

"I'm gonna make onions cry!" I sobbed once again as the fresh onions sliced into half and my eyes watered once again.

"Meza?"

I was too busy crying to answer her.
"Meza! Ahaan is home" Prachi's troubled voice made me stop. I turned to her with red eyes making her eyes wide.

"Oh god! Why do you have to cut the onions?! You could've asked me!" She rushed to me and took away the knife from my hand.

"I felt like crying so I came here" I murmured, washing my hands and face under the tap. "What were you talking about Ahaan?"

"He seems upset" Her words suddenly cracked me up. A deep sinking feeling seam in my stomach and I immediately rushed out to him.

As soon as I entered the room, my eyes fell on him. He was lying on the bed, his face turned towards the mirror while he was still in his work clothes.

"Welcome back!" I greeted cheerfully. Ahaan only grunted in response. Ignoring his lack of words and enthusiasm I walked and sat beside him.

"You're early today. Anything special?" I asked once I was comfortable on the bed. Ahaan dragged his eyes away from the window and glanced at me. His brows knitted in confusion and he grabbed my hand with a frown.

"You were crying?" He asked worriedly. I smiled softly at him, and if it was another time I would've teased him. But now he seemed to be down.

"I was." Ahaan sat up in the bed and held my cheek, nearing his face to mine.

"Why? Is everything okay? Did anyone say something to you?" He tilted his head in worry and then suddenly he panicked.

"Are you hurt somewhere?" He raked his eyes over me once and I finally sighed. Holding his hand that rested on my cheek, I shook my head in a no.

"Relax. I was cutting onions" I said sheepishly and Ahaan's worrisome gaze dropped. Sighing in relief, he shook his head a little.

"Itni parwah?" I couldn't stop myself from teasing. He avoided my eyes and lay on the bed again.

"Tumhari nahi toh kiski parwah karu?" My lips pulled up in an awkward smile. Biting my lips, I ran my hand through his hair.

"Tell me, is everything okay?" I finally asked.

After a moment of sheer silence, Ahaan finally answered. "I lost my job"

It suddenly made sense. The job was dear to him and now that he lost it he seemed to be lost.

"It's okay... We can try some new ones" I replied calmly. Ahaan turned his head away from me and buried his face against the pillow.

"Ahaan..." I called out to him but all he did was crawl to me and rest his head on my lap, his arms circling my waist as he hugged my stomach.
