THE OVERWHELMING SMELL OF his cologne nulled my senses. The feeling felt safe and calm. Slowly, I came out of my daze and gasped.

My nose was pressed against his chest, my head slightly tilted low. His strong arms were wrapped around me, keeping me as close to him as possible. The feel of his hands on me stimulated funny feelings in my stomach.

My head snapped in his direction to see his eyes wide, complete shock and fear written on his face.

"A-Ahaan!" I rasped out, my voice suddenly breathless. Keeping my hands on his chest, I stumbled back, too embarrassed to look in his eye.

"I... Uh! Are you okay?" Ahaan stuttered, scratching the back of his ear, awkwardly. If it wasn't for the headlights of the car, I wouldn't have seen his bitterly pink face.

"Yeah! I am. Why on earth did you pull me back?!" With my hands on my hips, I glared at him, my eyes sauntering in his.

"You were going to be hit by the car! I saved you and you're angry?" He defended and I raised my eyebrow.

"Hit by the car?" I pointed to the distance between the car and me- a good 10 meters to specific. "It's so far. We could've got hurt by the sudden pull!"

Ahaan clenched his jaw in fury. "What is with you and whining even when someone does something for you?"

"Mr?-" An old man came rushing towards us.

"That's because I never asked for you to do something! Mr. Good boy" I gave him a death stare, our eye contact burning the world around us.

"Why did you stop-" the man was cut off.

"You behave like you can do anything you want. Instead, you only mess things up. You are infuriatingly reckless!" He yelled, taking a step forward in my direction. That was a low blow buddy!

"Hello, Young man. Listen-" The man waved his hand in front of us, but I saw it as a red flag and my cool disappeared.

"That's not your problem and I don't consider it as mine. So stay out of this!" I sneered at him, collecting myself, making him clench his fist.

"You are freaking ungrateful!" Ahaan's face was red in anger and so was mine.

By now, we were standing too close, the warmth of our bodies wrapping us as one. Our breathings mingled and our eyes flared as the pure animalistic hate was exchanged.

"And you aren't capable of helping anyone! So mind your own business." I snapped, losing my tongue in the war.

"Alright, if you don't need a ride I'm leaving!" The man said with a frown, before turning away. "Best of luck with your fight! The hospital is 10km away from here"

"You don't deserve to be helped either! You can rot alone, alright"

Fury sparked my every nerve. How dare he say that?

He stood another step towards me and since we were too close, I moved back. Ahaan lost his cool and took another threatening step, making me push back.

"Why did you help me then?" I questioned, and he took another step. The lashings were too hurtful and I could see how it was wounding him. But we were too stubborn to lose to each other.

"My Apologies. I forgot how mean you could be" He spat, and I felt my heart constrict a little. My back touched something hard and rough and by the leaves hanging over us, I concluded it was a tree. His face glowed in the moonlight, perfectly forecasting his annoyed and furious face.
