A rough poke on my arm made me groan. I slowly tore my eyelids open, glaring at whoever was disturbing me. The blurry face of Ahaan came into view, and I furrowed my brows.

"Meza!" He patted my cheek again and again, whispering my name.

Suddenly, the car sped up, making me snap out of my sleep. Yes, we were still in the car.

"Ahaan!?" I gasped so loud he immediately pressed his hand against my mouth.

"Shh!" Ahaan muttered. "Two of them are asleep."

I dragged my gaze to the front and saw the boss and the tattooed guy sleeping while the man with the brown muffler was driving, completely oblivious to his background.

"What is happening? Why are we tied? Where are we?" He asked, and I nearly teared up. Launching at him, I snuggled my head against his chest, hands itching to wrap around him but the ropes that tied them stopped me.

Ahaan rested his chin on my head, caressing me with the side of his tied hands.

"They kidnapped us," I tilted my head up. "My... uncle. He made posters of me being wanted and set a prize of 5 crores. That is why everyone is after us."

Ahaan's eyes widened, pure horror taking over. I sniffed a little, realizing I've been really weak lately, crying over and over. I blamed it on my periods.

"What happened to me? Why can't I remember anything?" His voice came out painfully, and for a moment, I contemplated punching him.

But then, one look at his worrisome gaze, and I melted.

"You were drunk!" I accused. "You were so damn wasted that in fact, we've been kidnapped because of your dumbass behavior!"

And then I enlightened him of all he did. Ahaan turned redder and redder, his eyes dropping lower and lower in embarrassment until he couldn't meet my gaze.

"I'm so sorry," He pleaded softly. "I've no idea what I did. All I feel now is a terrible headache. As if my head was bulldozed! I'm sorry, Meza. I'm so sorry. I keep hurting you and mess up, and you keep cleaning up after me—"

"Shh!" I shook my head, looking up at him with a warm look in my eyes.

I couldn't blame him. He wasn't at fault.

Even if he was, I don't think I could stay mad at him for long. He was just too... precious.

"It's okay! What's done is done."

"No! I promised you I'll take care of you! I'll protect you, And I couldn't keep that for even a day." He was too far gone in his guilt to hear me out. His eyes held deep regret.

"Ahaan! It wasn't in your control. Let it go." I explained calmly. He looked at me skeptically, but still nodded.

"How long have we been out?"

"I think it's been more than half a day. I fell asleep a few hours ago." I looked out of the window, recalling what Rishi said. He was supposed to be here soon.

Our words were spoken in hushed whispers, hence the brown muffler guy didn't have any idea Ahaan was awake. He kept nodding off, his head jerking here and there a few times due to sleep, since it was too dark.

"Are you okay?" Ahaan inched towards my side, and I sighed slowly.

"I'm aching all over. I must have run for miles." I tried to roll my shoulders, only to feel them so sore they made cracking sounds.

Ahaan watched my moves closely, and then reached for his tied hands. "I'll get you out of here!"

"What?" Before I could think, his hands reached for mine, and he started untying the ropes around my wrist. I realized that I could've done that to him too, but I was too sleepy to even think properly.
