Adelaide's POV:

He remained spechless, while looking at me. So he finally said:

--- Is that..you?

I raised an eyebrow at him.

--- Of course that's not you...I mean, you are not Edmun--

He looked at the tombstone again:

--- Edmund, the first owner! You knew him, right? Actually, he was your murder, wasn't he?

I nodded.

--- So..why?

I looked away.

--- Were you here, waiting for him...All those years?

I couldn't help but to sob a bit. I got up from the tombstone, turning my back at him, crossing my arms.

--- You want him back? Is that it?

Now he went too far. I walked in his direction. I didn't want him back.

I wanted revenge.

--- You know, boy... I think you are way too young to understand it.

He shrugged his shoulders.

--- I loved him, I trusted him. He killed me, and my father knew he would. All for power, fame, status..

I started to walk around him, speaking, in my flat voice:

--- He chose all of this instead of me, he made me suffer. I wanted to get rid of you, but...I think that maybe you could help me with something.

He took some steps back.
The dawn was already gone, the night arrived. The only source of light was myself, that blue aura I could never run away from.

I spoke again, smirking:

--- At first, I wanted to get rid of you, indeed. But...you can be useful, actually.

--- W-What do you mean?

--- I can offer you a deal, what do you think?

--- A deal?

--- I was not, in fact, waiting for him...But for an opportunity. Now I see it.

He looked away, and it started to rain. Kevin seemed to be uncomfortable and beginning to get what I meant.
He was fidgeting his fingers nervously when he asked:

--- What do you want, Adelaide?

I kept looking at his eyes. Didn't say a word.

--- What do you want?!

I glanced at my own feet, then I raised my eyes:

--- Revenge, Kevin.

A pause.

--- I want him to suffer all I did, to understand what happened, why it happened, what he did this to me?!

I noticed I was already screaming by the end of my sentence.

--- I'm sorry, as you can see, it still messes me up. Even after 250 years, huh.

Now he was the one who didn't say a single word. Just kept analyzing me like a researcher would do to a rare specie of bug. A dangerous one, trying to make an antidote.

I took my fan out of my hair, Edmund gave me when he proposed to me. I grabbed my dagger as well, signed with my own name.
I showed him this two items.

--- Want me to choose?

--- Choose what?
--- Nevermind..I-
--- I want you to understand, Kevin.

He took the fan in his hands, admiring the ornaments all around it.

--- I guess you'll have to take the dagger too, Kevin.

He finally got it. He understood, the insight was visible and widened his eyes.

--- So I have to...Oh!
I smiled
--- What if I don't want to? I mean, he's already dead!
--- Actually he's not.

He gave my fan back to me.

--- It was a gift from him, yes. Really pretty, huh? Really expansive it was too...

--- What do you mean he's not dead??

I placed my dagger in his hands, without making eye contact:

--- Not yet. He came back, different unlike me. I stayed stuck, as you might notice.

Another pause. I completed:

--- I presume you know the Millers, right? And their huge, gorgeous house, just some quarters from here?

He didn't close his hands around the dagger. It was like he didn't want to touch it. He was always like this. Since he was a kid, always able too see me, never to admit it. Never to admit it to himself, always avoiding it all. But at the same time, always questioning it all.

--- Yes, I do.

--- I presume you know their youngest child, Cole Miller, right?

--- No I...I actually don't know them. They are really rich, and... Reserved. Nobody really know much about them.

He stopped to talk, suddenly, as If he remembered himself something.
I stated:

--- That's not a hindrance at all.

--- How come?

--- I'm almost sure Edmund came back in the youngest child. You just need to find out, and, you know.

--- Why me??

--- I cannot. I cannot leave this place.

--- Then I ask you again: Why would I want to do this for you?

--- As if you have any choice.
