Kevin's POV:
A cold morning. So cold that I woke up with a sore throat, right in the wedding day. Not mine, though. My mother's. With Simon, he's a cool guy, treats her well. This thoughts wandered my head while I was getting ready. I had a very important task at this wedding: deliver my mom to the altar. Yes, since grandpa passed and...well, I was the last relative that could do so. It brang me joy, but also nervousness. I felt grown up, important. The day was clouded but my mother's smile britghned it right away, I still remeber how.
A message in my phone, right when I was finishing breakfast.
"sup. you're late, as always."
I read it from the notification bar. Carlo was there alredy. My mom could arrive anytime soon. Then, I took a taxi to get there faster and skipped breakfast. I didn't forget the flowers to my mom and Simon. I got in front of the church, panting, I quickly bowed foward and got inside, looking for the first row. Carlo waved at me, I sat by his side. He said nothing, but stared at me with a knowing look dancing across his features.
I said, defensive:
"C'mon, I know. But I got here in time, at least."
"It's weird to see you in a suit" was all he said when they called me to the corner.
The bride arrived.
Just like I did, she was greeted by a crowded, stunning church. Greeted by red and white flower arrangements, the way she wanted. They were in the base of the banks, close to the long, red carpet down the aisle.
I think they where real, because they smelled real. Smelled good.
Before meeting mine, her eyes continued to wander around the shiny stripes between the banks, around her bridesmaids, carefully wearing marsala dresses.
But they weren't as stunning as her own dress.
White, bright, perfect for a bride. It had thin straps, and a heart shaped neckline. Traced her curves perfectly where it should. Down her waist her skirt was fluffy, in layers and flares. Small flowers sewn into its lace could be seen. I was almost sure that she'd look like a princess if she twirled it around. Her eyes had that childlike wonder again.
I hugged my mom so tight she gasped. I gave her a kiss in the cheek and spoke up, a bit emotional:
--- Mom, you're so pretty!
--- My sweet boy.
She said, her eyes tearing up just slightly.
It was time. The music started. I offered her my arm. The last and closest relative alive should deliver the bride.
We walked slowly, straightfoward. I was nearly crying and oh...the look on Simon's face when he saw her coming with me. It was priceless. In that moment I noticed, in fact, how much he loved her, and her, him.
I nodded, stepping back, and Simon took her hands. They stood up looking at each other, in front of the priest. He started the ceremony while I headed to the first row sit again. I didn't really heard the beggining of it, I was way too emotional.
Instead of teasing me about it, Carlo just watched me cry, wearing a slightly emotional expression himself.
I was startled by familiar words after the priest ended talking:
--- I love you. Ich liebe dich. Te quiero. Je t'aime. Aishteru. Ya tebya lyublyu. Se agapó. Kocham cię. Te amo. Avy jorraelan.
He looked at my mother, slightly confused, letting out a small chuckle.
