Lily's headache intensified, her emotions teetering on the brink. She violently shook her head, resisting Mark Johnson's approach.

But Mark Johnson persisted, whispering incessantly in her ear, "Lily, James Carter is a murderer. He killed our month-old child, who was still in your womb, not yet having seen this beautiful world nor having the chance to see you and me, all because of James Carter."

"Stop, please stop," Lily pleaded, feeling as if something she deliberately tried to forget was being ruthlessly unearthed by Mark Johnson, causing her unbearable pain.

"Lily, do you understand? He not only killed our child, but he also robbed you of the ability to be a mother again!"

"Ah! Stop talking!" Lily broke down completely, covering her ears, "I won't listen, I won't listen!"

Suddenly, the hospital room door was kicked open with a loud bang. James Carter rushed in, grabbed Mark Johnson by the collar, and threw him to the ground. Bodyguards hurried in behind, quickly silencing and dragging Mark Johnson away.

Upon seeing James Carter, Lily threw herself at him, crying breathlessly.

James Carter, his heart racing with anxiety, comforted Lily, "It's okay now."

"Husband, I'm so scared."

"It's okay, I'm here."

"Husband, my head hurts so much," Lily whimpered.

James Carter let go of Lily, watching her furrow her brows in pain, his heart beating faster, fearing she would remember everything.

"Besides the headache, do you feel discomfort anywhere else?"

"No," Lily replied, gently shaking her head.

"Then... do you remember anything?" James Carter asked nervously.

Lily closed her eyes, recalling fragmented, unfamiliar scenes flashing through her mind, but unable to grasp them.

The more she tried to remember, the more her head ached. Holding her head, she cried softly, "No, it's just a terrible headache."

"Don't think about it, I'll call the doctor." James Carter quickly ran to the door, calling for a doctor.

Soon, the doctor hurried in.

After examining Lily, he concluded, "This is due to emotional stress. It's best not to upset the patient in the future."

"Does this mean she might soon remember everything?"

This was James Carter's primary concern.

He preferred Lily's amnesia, for them to forget all the unhappy things and start anew.

"Quite possibly."

The doctor's response only heightened James Carter's anxiety.

He feared that Lily might honestly remember everything.

Looking through the window, he saw that Lily had fallen asleep.

After the doctor left, James Carter returned to the room.

He gently caressed Lily's cheek, his eyes filled with love and deep remorse.

Chris Cloud had uncovered the truth. Lily and Mark Johnson had never been involved; it was all a scheme that Emma Wilson and Mark Johnson concocted to create the illusion of an affair between Lily and Mark Johnson.

Knowing his deep suspicions of Lily, Emma Wilson successfully used this to drive a wedge between them.

And he, he had personally killed the child he shared with Lily.

Lily was right; he was a murderer, doomed to a lifetime of regret.

But a lifetime is so long. He hoped that he alone would suffer in the future, allowing Lily to forget everything and live carefree by his side.

"Lily, I'm sorry."

James Carter held Lily's hand, continually kissing it.

He loved her so much; he should have trusted her, not doubted her at every turn.
