Since that day, Emma Wilson has been hiding in the red-light district of City A, leading a life of darkness and secrecy.

Three men had recorded her, threatening to release the video online if she spoke out, ensuring her reputation would be ruined and her name dragged through the mud.

Which girl wouldn't fear such a thing?

Yet, she couldn't accept it. Why should she end up like this while Lily and James Carter happily live together? What about the humiliation she suffered?

Emma Wilson tried to contact Mark Johnson, hoping to use him again for revenge.

However, Mark Johnson's phone was unreachable, and it wasn't until she saw on a street billboard that Johnson Corporation had gone bankrupt and Mark Johnson and his father were in prison due to huge debts.

Emma Wilson watched the ongoing coverage of Johnson Corporation, unable to help but laugh maniacally, "James Carter, you're truly ruthless."

"But I'm not having a good time either, so don't you and Lily even think about being happy!"

It was Lily; she ruined her dream of marrying into a wealthy family. Since that's the case, a price must be paid, or wouldn't all her suffering be in vain?

Emma Wilson's face twisted into a sinister smile, sending chills down the spine of those who saw her.

It wasn't until 8 PM that Lily finally woke up feebly.

"Awake? How are you feeling?" James Carter asked gently.

Lily gave him a weak glance and smiled, "I'm okay, just hungry."

"I had someone make soup. Shall I help you sit up and have some?"

"Sure." Lily nodded.

James Carter helped Lily sit up and set up a medical dining table, bringing out the chicken soup prepared earlier, intending to feed her. Lily gently said, "I want to eat by myself."

James Carter paused slightly, then smiled with his lips pursed, "Okay, take your time; it's a bit hot."

"When can I be discharged?" Lily asked while sipping the soup.

"The doctor said we need to observe for a while longer until the hematoma in your brain is fully resolved."

"Mhm." Lily quietly drank the soup, finishing the bowl before remembering to ask James Carter, "Have you eaten?"

James Carter hesitated on how to respond, but Lily spoke first, "You must be worried about me and haven't eaten yet."

Lily served James Carter a bowl of soup using her bowl, "Eat some."

Looking at the chicken soup before him, James Carter didn't move for a while.

"If you starve, you'll get a stomach ailment."

James Carter swallowed hard and slowly reached for the chicken soup Lily pushed towards him.

Though the soup was perfectly flavoured, all he could taste was bitterness.

After he finished the soup, Lily said, "That's enough; let's clean up. I'm tired and want to sleep again."

With a clenched hand at his side, James Carter spoke hoarsely, "Have some more; the soup won't fill you up."

Lily shook her head, "I can't eat anymore."

James Carter felt as if something was unbearably uncomfortable in his throat.

He began to clean up the utensils, "Then rest well. Call me if you need anything; I'll be right here, not going anywhere."

"Mhm."

After tucking Lily in, James Carter was about to move to the sofa when he heard Lily say, "Turn off the lights."

James Carter paused for a few seconds before responding, "Okay."

He turned off the lights, plunging the room into darkness. As his eyes adjusted, he noticed the moonlight streaming in from outside.

He pulled up a chair and sat by the window.

With his back to the light, he gazed at Lily on the hospital bed, lying on her side, her back towards him.

He knew Lily had remembered everything.
