Lily screamed as a searing pain spread across her cheek.

She could feel the warm blood sliding down her face, even smelling the metallic scent of it.

"I've ruined your face; let's see if James Carter still loves you. Hahaha..."

Seeing Emma Wilson's maniacal behaviour, Lily was terrified.

Madness is the most frightening thing.

"Emma Wilson, it's not too late to stop now, or James won't let you off."

"Heh, I am like this because of him!" Emma Wilson yelled.

She would never forget the day she went to the hotel to meet him, full of joy, only to face pain and torment.

And all this was because of that man, James Carter!

"The pain he brought me, I'll take it all back from you."

As she spoke, Emma Wilson raised the knife and slashed Lily's hand.

"Ah!"

"Scream, scream louder. The more pain you're in, the more excited I get."

That night, it was just like this.

The more painfully she screamed, the more excited those men got, torturing her even more brutally.

"Emma Wilson, you're insane!" Lily, holding her bleeding arm, gritted her teeth.

"I am insane, so don't try to provoke me further, or I might accidentally send you to the afterlife!"

Emma Wilson raised the knife again, but before she could strike, there was a sound of something hitting the door from outside, followed by Chris Cloud's anxious voice.

"Madam, are you alright?!"

"Chris Cloud, save me! Emma Wilson has gone mad!"

Lily took the opportunity of Emma Wilson's distraction to move away, picking up a shard of ceramic from a broken pot for protection.

"Emma Wilson, I advise you not to act rashly, or you won't be able to bear the consequences," Chris Cloud shouted from outside.

Emma Wilson ignored him and continued to advance towards Lily.

Outside, the sounds of impact persisted.

Lily, holding the ceramic shard, warned, "Don't come any closer."

"You think I'm afraid? We might as well die together. Having a good friend like you on the road to the underworld, I won't be lonely."

Emma Wilson rushed at Lily with the knife, but Lily, not expecting her to resort to such extremes, didn't want to die just yet.

Just as Lily prepared to defend herself with the ceramic shard, Emma Wilson, about to stab her, suddenly collapsed.

The next second, Lily was enveloped in a warm embrace.

Familiar arms, a familiar scent, Lily immediately dropped the shard and clung tightly.

"James Carter."

"I'm here. I'm sorry, I put you in danger."

"It's not your fault," Lily shook her head.

The blame was on Emma Wilson's twisted heart.

Suddenly, Lily pushed James Carter away, looking worriedly at Emma Wilson being carried out by the bodyguards, "Is she..."

"Don't worry, it's just a sedative. She wouldn't faint so quickly otherwise. She's done so many heinous things, the law will punish her."

Lily nodded.

James Carter touched Lily's face, looking at the wound with reddened eyes, "I'm sorry."

He called a doctor to quickly dress Lily's wound.

After the wound was bandaged, and everyone else left, only Lily and James Carter remained in the room.

Lily raised her hand to touch the treated wound, but James Carter stopped her, "Don't touch it, beware of infection."

"What if it leaves a scar, will you despise me?" Lily asked cautiously.

"I won't despise you, but you will definitely despise it yourself. So, take good care of it, apply the medicine on time, and it won't scar."

Lily nodded softly, "Okay."

James Carter held her in his arms, "I'm sorry, it's all my fault."

If he hadn't treated Emma Wilson so extremely, she wouldn't have turned her hatred towards Lily.

"It's her own problem, not your fault. Besides, she got what she deserved."

James Carter held Lily tightly, "She indeed got what she deserved."

"James Carter."

"Hmm?"

"Let's start over, forget all the bad memories."

James Carter hadn't expected Lily to choose to forgive him. He had been prepared for her to hate him, but he wouldn't let her go.

He hugged her tightly, his voice choked with emotion, "Okay. I won't doubt you anymore."

"Okay, if we have problems, we'll communicate properly. We can't let others easily drive a wedge between us again."

"Alright."

"I love you, James Carter."

"I love you too, Lily."
