After hearing Huyijian's threat, I couldn't help but almost burst out laughing. "A thousand ways to make me suffer? Who do you think you are? Unfortunately, on this abandoned island, you can't change fate."

I turned my head and stared coldly at him, waving the fire axe in my hand. "If it weren't for fear of the rescue team coming and me becoming a murderer, I would have chopped your head off long ago. Do you know that?"

Of course, I was just trying to scare him. After all, I was an ordinary civilian and couldn't imagine committing murder.

Huyijian was indeed frightened by my words. After stammering for a while, he managed to force an unpleasant smile and said, "Big Brother Wei, I was just joking earlier. Don't take it to heart."

Ignoring him, I took the lead and walked away. Seeing me walking briskly, Huyijian had no choice but to reluctantly follow. The forest might not be safe, and he dared not stay alone.

Soon, I arrived at a reed field in the mountains. These wild reeds grew exceptionally tall, some reaching my chest and others even exceeding two to three meters. Entering the reed field, the line of sight was almost completely obscured. I didn't dare venture deep into the reeds, standing only at the edge.

These reeds grew in wetlands, indicating nearby marshes. One could easily get trapped, especially with such tall reeds. Getting lost in all directions would be troublesome, and I couldn't be sure whether there were any wild animals in the reed field.

After a while, Huyijian caught up. I instructed him to tear off some reed leaves, while I used the fire axe to cut the reeds. The main purpose was to gather reed leaves for mosquito repellent. These past few days, we had been tormented by mosquitoes, and I believed tonight we could finally sleep soundly. Reed leaves were also common in daily life; they were often used to wrap zongzi, a traditional Chinese food. This time, I planned to use them to fill the gaps between the wooden boards in the gate, combined with some reed flowers, to block the wind.

Under my supervision, Huyijian had no chance to slack off this time. He kept busy, although his efficiency was far from mine. In the end, I cut a substantial pile of reed leaves, the size of a water bucket, and bound them into two large bundles using the iron wire found on the rescue team's corpse. I tossed everything to Huyijian, telling him to carry them. I was ready to head back.

"Big Brother Wei, I can't carry all of this by myself. I'm exhausted!" Huyijian loudly protested.

"If you don't carry it, there won't be dinner tonight!" I said indifferently, turning around and walking away.

Upon hearing my words, Huyijian was furious. He reluctantly followed me, his eyes filled with an unusually dark and hateful glare.

Sensing his gaze, I turned my head. As soon as Huyijian saw me looking, he quickly put on a forced smile, like a wagging dog. I felt a hint of caution; this guy was definitely a schemer. Observing his behavior, it was clear he harbored ill intentions towards me. However, I wasn't particularly worried; with his limited intelligence, he probably couldn't come up with any effective plans to harm me.
