After breakfast, I assigned tasks. Hu Yijian and Qianyi were responsible for collecting branches and reeds nearby to prepare for making a makeshift fence gate. Su Jie and I planned to search for clues from the rescue team nearby while also looking for food and water. Considering Xu Xiaorong's foot injury, I advised her to stay in the cave to rest.

Upon leaving the cave, Su Jie hurriedly walked towards the seashore, hoping to find any clues left by the rescue team. However, I wasn't optimistic about it; yesterday's flood might have washed away any evidence. When we reached the shore, the forest was submerged by seawater, revealing only some treetops. A few small animals were trapped at the top of the trees.

Suddenly, an idea struck me, thinking that these small animals could potentially become a source of food for us.

"It looks like we can have an extra meal at noon today!" I exclaimed excitedly, taking off my clothes to prepare to jump into the water.

I had long lost my underwear, and only when I undressed did I realize the awkward situation. Surprisingly, Su Jie didn't shy away but stared straight at me for a moment and laughed, "Xiaowei, why do you look so embarrassed? Haven't I seen a man before? But you, little guy, are quite well-developed!"

I awkwardly smiled and then jumped into the water. Soon, I swam to the canopy of a large tree and discovered a fat wild chicken. This chicken had obviously taken refuge in the tree to escape the rain, soaking wet and shivering from the cold.

Sensing danger, the wild chicken tried to fly away, but evidently, last night's heavy rain hindered its flight. I easily caught the bird, anticipating a roasted chicken or chicken soup for tonight.

I quickly swam back to the shore, tied the chicken's legs securely with vine, gesturing for Su Jie to watch, and then jumped into the water again. There were still many small animals on the nearby trees, and I hoped to preserve more food.

Before long, I captured a small wild chicken, a cat-like creature, and even found a little rabbit on a floating log.

It seemed like today's catch was quite abundant; this tide might not be all bad.

I wanted to catch a few more, but at that moment, Su Jie suddenly screamed. Turning around, I saw a large water snake over two meters long, as thick as a waist, swimming towards us.

Startled, I threw the cat-like creature in my hand toward the water snake and desperately swam towards the shore.

During the time the snake devoured the small cat, I managed to reach the shore, feeling extremely frightened. I realized that this water snake swam very fast and almost entangled me. If it weren't for the small cat as bait, I might have been caught, and the outcome would have been death.

"Let's go quickly!" I hurriedly signaled Su Jie and led her back to the cave.

After the snake had its meal, it wouldn't feel full, and I was worried it might catch up to us.

However, after running for a while, we didn't hear any chasing noises. I guessed there might be many trapped small animals on the water's surface, temporarily losing the snake's interest in us.

This time, it could be said that we narrowly escaped death.

Sitting on the grass, I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling extremely scared. I reminded Su Jie that the forest on this island might be more dangerous than I had imagined, and I was concerned about the presence of other more dangerous large predators.Today's harvest was already abundant, and we decided to return to the cave.
