"So that's it. I thought these girls were so bold, not afraid of wolves. Turns out they managed to get hold of this stuff!" The aroma of pepper was strong, and its irritant properties were potent. Animals like wolves and bears despised this smell. Some bear repellents sold on the market sprayed just once could make bears flee, and these sprays essentially contained highly concentrated pepper powder. Now, they actually got their hands on pepper and another possibly island-specific irritant plant powder. This significantly reduced the chances of them being tracked by the wolf pack.
"Among Hu Yijian's group, there must be experts in jungle survival. I didn't expect this move." I shook my head, contemplating that when I had time, I should search the nearby area to see if I could find pepper and other plants with strong irritating odors. Quietly trailing behind the girls, I discovered they were heading to a secluded valley. Standing from a distance outside the valley, I could see a camp.
Their camp, unlike our cave, was quite different. They had erected several grass sheds on the grassland, inside which they laid some dried moss, animal skins, making it look very warm. In one of the grass sheds, the little scoundrel, Hu Yijian, was sleeping soundly, appearing extremely content. As for the others, I hadn't seen them yet. I guessed they were probably out searching for food and hadn't returned.
Counting the number of their grass sheds, I calculated that there were very likely two to three more men! I hid in the nearby bushes, quietly waiting. I thought, when they were all together, I would launch a surprise attack!
As time passed, the sky gradually darkened. Crouching in the bushes, I patiently waited, and indeed, I saw two men returning together. I happened to know both of these men. One of them, Huang Nanjie, was a manager in Hu Yijian's company, in his thirties, frequently engaged in bodybuilding, and had a very developed muscular physique, looking quite imposing.
The other man's face, however, was something I couldn't have imagined. Upon seeing him, my entire body felt somewhat stunned, and the gun in my hand almost fell to the ground. Because the remaining person, surprisingly, was my good buddy from the company, Big-Headed Du. This guy, when he was young, suffered from malnutrition, was short, only about 1.6 meters tall, with an unusually large head. We called him Big-Headed Du.
His real name was Du Feng, also from a rural background. Du Feng's situation was much worse than mine. Originally just a janitor in the company, he somehow managed to use some method to have the old man Ji from the human resources department pull some strings for him, getting him abruptly transferred to our design department.
When this guy first came, he didn't even know how to use some of the most basic design software. No one in our department wanted to deal with him, but I, not minding him, patiently taught him bit by bit. I thought we were both from poor families, so I treated him with special care. Du Feng was very grateful, and we became good buddies.
This time, when we took the plane to Singapore, it was our team, along with several business department representatives, representing the company to negotiate a big deal. Once successful, all of us participating would receive a substantial bonus. Originally, Big-Headed Du didn't qualify to go, but it was me who enthusiastically spoke many good words for him in front of Su Jie, and Su Jie agreed to take him along. I never expected that among Hu Yijian's gang, who were now plotting against me, Big-Headed Du was actually one of them!
