The situation seemed to be heading in an unfavorable direction. The long logs we used to block the door remained sturdy, but the construction material of the cave door had developed some cracks from the impact of the massive creature. Before long, a large hole appeared, and the creature even extended its gleaming claws through the opening, scraping around.

The girls were terrified, their eyes filled with despair. In my urgency, I vented, "Damn it, dare to roar at me?"

I didn't care much. I had been concerned about breaking the cave door when I fired earlier, and bullets were limited. Now, with the door on the verge of breaking, what did bullets matter? I aimed at the hole in the cave door and fired repeatedly.

A painful howl echoed outside the cave as a result of my shots. I felt a strange sense of satisfaction – take that, you fierce creature! After the rampage, we unexpectedly found silence outside the cave. It seemed that the massive creature had left. We exchanged bewildered glances, unable to believe our luck.

Li Lin and the others, overcome with fear, huddled together, crying out in pain. Having survived such a close encounter with death on this deserted island, we had almost suffered a complete loss! The girls carried a feeling of having narrowly escaped death, but I remained cautious. Had the cunning creature truly left? During my time hunting, I had learned not to underestimate animals; even rabbits and birds could be sly, let alone predators.

I couldn't afford to let my guard down. Approaching the cave entrance with a flashlight in hand, I peered outside through the hole. To my surprise, the fearsome koala-faced creature was crouched on the side of the cave entrance, staring at me coldly!

It turned out that the blind spot where I had shot hastily was its ambush location. It skillfully avoided my shots, hiding on the side, waiting for an opportunity! If I had carelessly opened the cave door to check, I might not be alive now!

I quickly raised my gun and fired three shots in succession. Luckily, one bullet hit its eye directly, causing it to emit a mournful howl. Finally feeling fear, I watched as it limped away, disappearing into the dark forest. One of its legs had been hit multiple times by my shots.

The shots made it realize that hiding on the side was futile, and with its injured eye causing unbearable pain, it finally slinked away. But considering how cunning this creature was, I dared not rashly open the cave door, fearing it might still be lurking nearby, waiting for a fatal opportunity.

I woke up the frightened girls, gathered soil from the cave, and mixed it with water to repair some of the damage to the cave entrance. As for the large hole, I intentionally left it there. I realized that keeping this opening might not be a bad idea for us. Although the hole allowed wind to enter, making the cave colder, at least it provided us with a chance to counterattack if the massive creature returned.

For the rest of the night, we were in a state of half-sleep and half-awake. We lit a fire, vigilantly staring at the cave entrance, afraid that the massive creature might return. Due to the damaged cave entrance, the temperature inside the cave rapidly dropped, and the chilling wind whistled in. Because of the cold and fear, we all squeezed together.

Sitting by the fire, several girls crowded around me. On my left was the trembling Li Lin, who wrapped her arms around my waist, burying her head between my legs. On my right was Xu Xiao Rong, the usually proud young lady who now seemed incredibly reliant. She not only hugged me tightly but also rested her head on my chest. Behind me was Su Jie, who embraced me from behind, resting her head on my back. As for the dark-skinned girl, she wanted to join but had no space, so she reluctantly squeezed down to my feet.

To be honest, their huddling made my sitting position quite awkward, but the slight discomfort was bearable. The fragrance of the girls surrounded me, creating a sense of tranquility and comfort in my heart.

However, compared to the other girls, I was particularly attentive to Xu Xiao Rong. This proud girl, who had always carried an air of arrogance, was now clinging to me, nestled in my arms – something I could never have dreamed of. Her head was against my chest, and her jet-black hair brushed against my chin, creating a pleasant sensation. Her body was soft, a bit cold, yet warm, like cool jade, making me feel incredibly comfortable. I couldn't help but grab her hand, initially met with a bit of resistance, but she eventually held my large hand tightly. Holding her small hand, I suddenly felt very calm; this kind of night seemed quite nice.
