-Closer-

"So exactly how long have you and Ash known each other?" I asked Millie. She had offered to walk home with me, considering her house was on the road our drive led off from.

"Well I don't know. Our mums were great friends in high school. So probably ever since I was born, which was nearly eighteen years ago" she answered. She smiled as she said it. I clutched my books close to my chest as we approached the beginning of my drive.

"This is your house?" Millie asked in shock.

"Yeah" I replied. I didn't know why she found it so surprising, I mean I knew it was big, but someone had to have it. "Why?" I asked curiously.

Millie opened her mouth and shut it again. "No reason" she answered, her voice squeaking nervously at one point,"You up for that party on Saturday?" she asked taking her eyes off the long driveway and onto me instead.

"Yeah sure" I answered happily.

"Good. Remember to be at mine at six o'clock sharp, I'll give you an awesome outfit!" Millie added joyfully.

"I will" I laughed.

"K then. See ya!" she giggled holding up one hand in the gesture of a wave. I watched Millie walk down the street for a second before looking up at the huge gate I needed to open. I couldn't remember whether you pushed or you pulled. I supposed it had to be push, I mean you couldn't open a gate like that up onto a main roa-

But I was stopped in mid sentence. The gate creaked open by itself. It was strange because I was sure it was closed before. You could barely see the black iron; it was covered in so much moss and ivy. Slowly I walked through watching the gate as I did. And then I was sure it wasn't me because it closed after.

I didn't know we had any censoring system. I bounded down the long drive to the porch of the house. I heard lots of clanking metal. Looking around the place I couldn't see anything, it was deserted.

Then I realised it was coming from behind the house. So I followed the sound. It got louder and louder as I approached until I could see the figure of a car. It was a second hand car I could tell that. And under its hood was Damon. On the patio outside, watching on a deck chair with a big glass of coke was Blaze. I felt anger rifle up inside of me.

"Blaze!" I yelled making her look up in surprise and Damon come out from fixing the car from under the hood.

"Yes Jinxy?" she asked a very amused look appearing on her face.

"What the hell are you doing?" I asked wanting to slap her across the face. She looked at Damon and then back at me. He was contemplating our argument.

"Damon said he would work on my car" she responded quite calmly. I looked over at him in disbelief. He looked great even with dust on his face and hair ruffled from working on the car. It made me so angry for some reason.

"You don't have a car" I whispered.

"Well I do now" she added.

"No you don't! We both know why you don't! We both know that it's probably all my fault you don't!" I cried. Blaze was shocked into silence. Damon hadn't said a word anyway. I opened the patio doors ran upstairs into the bedroom and slammed that door hard.

It was as if it shook the whole house. Then I collapsed across my bed and cried. It was the tears I had stored up for months now. All the anger, the sadness and the frustration. I let it all pour out. It wasn't until a couple of minutes later when I heard steady but hesitant knocks on my door.

"Can I come in?" Blaze asked from the other side of the door. I didn't answer. I didn't feel the need to. I knew she wouldn't listen. I was correct; she opened the door and slid into the spot beside me.

"What do you want?" I asked flatly.

"To talk" she answered softly.

"About what? What is there to really talk about?" I sobbed in frustration. She was quiet for a while and then I felt a warm hug around me.

"You have to stop feeling guilty" she whispered.

"I can't. It's my fault Blaze. It's my fault he's out there" I argued weakly.

"You did the right thing Jinx. You know you did" she said firmly. I didn't answer. I pulled away from her arms and wiped away my tears.

"Sure I did" I said under my breath walking out of my bedroom door straight into Damon's well muscled chest. "Sorry" I mumbled not having the energy to apologise properly. He grabbed my arm softly and for a couple of moments I just stood there staring at it.

"Wait" he said. It was a little late for that, I didn't exactly have anywhere to go.

"What?" I asked absently.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" he asked surprising me. He didn't exactly sound sympathetic and it made me angry because he didn't understand.

"If only you knew" I hissed. Then I really did storm off. But I heard him follow me. I kept walking around the house randomly until I was sure he was gone, but it didn't come. He just kept following me. I stopped abruptly.

"My dad's paying you to take care of the house not to stalk me" I growled. I watched his eyes turn innocent for a moment.

"I'm not going to stop following you until you tell me what's wrong" he responded. I turned my nose at him and walked again. I wondered why he cared so much. I kept walking with my fists clenched, I was being followed outside. We were entering the forest area outside the big untidy garden.

It was very creepy. It reminded me slightly of a forbidden forest. It felt restricted around here. I couldn't believe I could still hear sticks crunching and napping behind me. Maybe I should have stored away the traps in my underwear draw after all...

But in mid thought, I felt my body gently be forced up against a tree. Damon had his arms against my shoulders to stop me running. His body was close to mine. What the hell? What was happening? Oh my god was I being raped? Instead of struggling like a sensible person I froze. I hadn't even known Damon for more than 24hours. But let's face it. A hot boy is a hot boy.

"Get off me" I snarled. His breath was close to face. I could feel his gentle breath on my cheeks.

"Not until you tell me what's wrong" he insisted, the evil smirk working its way across his face. I loved how he smiled. One side of his face curved more than the other side and it made him look so bad-boy-hot.

"No" I replied firmly.

"Then I have no choice" he sighed pretending to sound bothered. I felt my eyes widen in fear.

"What choice?" I asked growing a little scared for myself.

"I have no choice, but to kiss you" he said charmingly. I felt myself stiffen in shock and then shiver as he leaned forwards cutting the distance between our lips shorter and shorter.
