- LIVING A NIGHTMARE -

SHE MUST'VE BEEN out for hours, days even. Her body wasn't exactly tired, but she still felt out of it for some reason. Like she'd been under a number of different drugs.

Her senses triggered her consciousness, the first sign being the hairs of her arms standing on end in response to the cool temperature of the room she was in.

It was peculiar to feel little to no pain in areas like her bicep where a mandrill dug into her flesh, or her thigh where Enobaria stabbed her. So odd she began to wonder why that was. She pictured a pleasant awakening when she arrived in Thirteen, but she knew not to think it would be completely painless.

She flinched in pain, though, as a reaction to the light that dangled directly above her head, a shiver tickling her body as everything started to become real again.

It took her many minutes to adjust to her surroundings, the bright white lights all around her making the room feel eerie and frightening.

There wasn't a soul in sight as she sat up slowly, her eyes latched onto her arm where an IV was stuck to her skin and a wire that peeked out from underneath the hospital gown she wore which connected her skin to the heart rate monitor that was beeping beside her.

She only noticed her hands were shaking when she reached to remove whatever she was pricked with, the bag holding the medicine had a name written across it that she didn't recognize and didn't trust. So she yanked it from her skin, wincing at the sting it caused.

She looked over her body in search of the injuries she obtained while in the arena, but she was completely spotless. Which may seem miraculous and even exciting, but she's only ever seen such technology and medicine used by the rich and extravagant Capitol.

Rubbing her arm where she removed the IV, Nadia's shoulders jumped as footsteps sounded behind the door across from her, the woman shuffling up the bed to get as far away as possible. She wasn't sure who to expect and her search for a makeshift weapon was pointless unless whoever was behind the door was up for a pillow fight.

She didn't realize the breath she held hostage or how relieved she'd feel once letting it out as a man walked into the room with a long white coat hanging from his shoulders.

He seemed surprised to see her, mildly concerned even as he rushed to her side and pried her arm out of her own hold.

It was silent as he assessed her arm where she rid herself of the medication that was being pumped into her body, Nadia watching him closely as he sighed in relief.

He sat beside her in his own chair and looked over the monitor with a tight grip still digging into her arm.

She wondered if he wasn't speaking to her because she pulled out the IV and he was upset with her. Or maybe he just didn't like talking to people. Either way, she stared him down as if he was holding a gun to her throat. For all she knew, that medication could've been an attempt to kill her.

"Um..." Watching him jot down a note or two on the clipboard in his lap, she cleared her throat only now seeming to notice how scratchy her voice was. "Where am I?"

Still, he didn't reply, only sparing her a small glance that told her nothing. She's never been to District Thirteen, but if this was it, she was really missing a familiar face now more than ever.

"Did everyone make it out?" She inquired, eyes still glued to him yet he ignored her despite the discomfort her stare provided.

Nadia didn't like feeling clueless or left out of the loop, her looming fears always heightened times one hundred when she didn't know what was happening or what was going to happen. This man was frankly pissing her off.
