The team stood on the bridge as Rip showed them the distress message they'd received from the captain of the Acheron, the flagship of the time fleet.

Baxter: <System malfunction. I'm stranded, unable to jump, control unresponsive. This is Captain Eve Baxter of the time ship Acheron, requesting critical rescue.>

Mick: And we care about this chick why?

Rip: We don't. But the Acheron's computer will contain the current intel on Savage's whereabouts. Gideon, set course for the Acheron's position in deep space.

Gideon: Yes, Captain.

Stein: Deep space? I had no idea we have the ability to explore the unknown realms of the galaxy. Astonishing!

Theta: You say "unknown", but I've been to most of them. Humans. Think everything revolves around you.

Jax: What's astonishing is that we're acting as roadside assistance for the people who's chasing us.

Snart: Doesn't that seem suspicious? This distress call just happened to reach us?

Kendra: How do we know it's not a trap?

Rip: We don't.

Theta: My favorite kind of trap.

Rip: But what we do know is that Savage's trail has run cold. And unless Gideon can upload the data from the Acheron's computer-

Mick: I'm in.

Snart: You are?

Mick: The sooner we end Savage, the sooner I get back to where I belong.

Stein: Prison?

Mick: Any prison on Earth's better than this one, Professor.

Rip: Gideon!

Gideon: Yes, sir?

Rip: Engines to full throttle.

Everyone got seated and strapped in as the Waverider initiated light-speed travel.

DEEP SPACE

They exited light speed and saw the Acheron drifting in space.

Rip: Theta, I assume you're coming.

Theta: You assume right. This is kind of my jam.

Rip: Professor Stein, Mr. Jackson, would you care to join the boarding party?

Stein: A chance for an extravehicular docking maneuver? What could be more exciting?

Jax: I could think of a few things.

Mick: Let's get this thing started.

Rip: Dr. Palmer, I leave the ship in your hands while we're gone.

———

The five boarded the Jumpship and flew to the Acheron.

Stein: I'm having the strangest sensation. It's like I'm ten years old again.

Mick: You do a lot of space travel as a kid, Professor?

Stein: Only in my dreams. After I read my first issue of Rick Starr, Space Ranger.

Jax: Space Ranger Stein? Yeah, I don't see it.

Stein: I wanted to travel through space, surviving only by my wits and laser guns. I even built a rocket out of cardboard boxes.
