THE VANISHING POINT
Rip and Theta were taken down the halls of the Vanishing Point to Druce's office.
Theta: Nice place you got here. Feng shui?
Druce: Leave us.
The guards left.
Rip: I have a query.
Druce: Why haven't we killed you yet?
Rip: That's what you've been trying to do all this time.
Druce: Fortunately for you, two of your crew are still at large. Tell me where to find them and I'll spare the others.
Theta: Have you tried the center of the sun? They might be there.
Rip: If this is anything like the offer you gave me in the USSR, I'm sorely tempted.
Druce: You were a fugitive from justice.
Rip: You're helping Vandal Savage take over the world. I have a feeling our definition of the word "justice" may differ somewhat.
Druce: The only difference between us is my view of the timeline reaches further and wider than yours.
Rip: Am I supposed to be impressed?
Theta: Does it reach wider than mine?
Druce: This is the Earth's timeline we're talking about. I don't expect you to understand what it takes for us to survive. Especially since you destroyed your own planet and all its people. In 2175, less than ten years from when Savage conquers the world, the Earth is attacked by a warlike race of extraterrestrials from the planet Thanagar.
Theta: Thanagarians? They're brutal.
Druce: Exactly. Without Savage to unite the world under a singular rule, this is what becomes of the world.
He projected the image of the world destroyed and in flames.
Rip: This is the work of Savage.
Druce: No. This is what will happen to Earth if Savage is not there to lead it. Without him, all human life is extinguished. Even this realm falls to the Thanagarians. Are you impressed now?
Rip: No. You are as mad as your friend Vandal if you think that he is the world's only hope.
Druce: We've examined the timeline. There is no other hope. I don't expect you to take my word for it. That's why there's something else I have to show you.
