All april wanted was one night without drama, but norman had lit the spark that caused a whole forest fire. she grumpily walked into cindy's flat, acting as though she didn't know her phone was buzzing each minute due to the texts and notifications she forgot to turn off.
and by forgot, april meant she was doing it on purpose so she'd have an excuse to look at her phone once things got awkward. which they did, as soon as she was about to walk in.
mostly due to the fact ella's father - warren - and grandmother - norma- were invited last minute. april hadn't gotten the memo, due to her always being excluded from any last minute changes. it was practically in her coding at this point; anything last minute was unheard of until it happened.
april sighed as she stepped over the threshold, she felt the tension in the air hit her. ella only just found out warren was her dad, and so it was awkward between them. however, norma and ella got on like a house on fire despite their opposite personalities.
"is it just me, or are my ears burning?" april whispered to charlie as they moved awkwardly to sit on the sofa, due to the open floor plan. charlie gave her a confused look as he sat down, april following behind. "i swear on our dead hamsters grave, that ella is talking about me,"
"about that..." charlie began, turning to face april, even though it was funny because their legs were smooshed up against each other despite the tight gap, "... all ella wanted to talk about the other day was how much you'd screwed her over,"
"you what?" april replied, despite hearing him very clearly, due to the fact most people were talking quietly.
"i was shocked too, of course i tried to shut her up but she was on one," charlie replied, then he glanced over to ella and norma. the blonde girl gave him a bright smile and wave, but turned back to her conversation, and so he did the same, "why's she being so clingy and weird?"
"i reckon she still has a thing for you," april replied back, picking up her phone and reading the notifications.
