April was dreading today, mostly because norman wouldn't leave her alone and lizzie was leaving her on delivered. she didn't care if she sent the message two minutes ago, delivered is delivered.

or she's an attention whore. probably that.

she sighed and got up from her bed, heading downstairs and helping herself to some breakfast. even if she felt sick to her stomach by norman's insistence, she didn't have much else of an option with sixth-form being today.

"hey," her father said cheerily, "sorry about-"

"-the other night? it's fine," april said as she spread some jam onto her toast, then turning around to face her father, "look, i get that you wanted no drama. without me, there never will be any,"

"hey, hey, that is not how we think," he chuckled slightly and continued, "were osbornes, not losers,"

"same difference," april said with a shrug before taking a bite of her toast. it was bland, but the flavour of the jam was enough to make it bearable.

"uh, rude," darren said, checking the cupboards to find the cereal, "im a very cool dad,"

"according to who exactly? tony?" april joked, she and her dad had that humour. they both knew it was just banter and took jabs at each other, but of course they both knew once it got too much and when to back off.

with the banter came some topics never approached again, for example her fathers bout of depression a dew years ago. it was a subject that went untouched, better not harmed due to the harsh memories that came along with it.

"uh, ethan too," april raised an eyebrow at that.

"ethan's fit sure, good fuck. but like... don't think he should be judging your parenting considering he's like twenty-five," at her words, april realised she'd screwed up but instead of admitting defeat she kept her usual confident demeanour.

so what if she just essentially told her dad she slept with his best mate? saves her telling him when she's drunk.

"do i need to ground you?" he asked in disbelief.

"one time deal," april clarified, "he laid all his cards on the table, along with me of course,"

her father shook his head at her words, before looking at the time, "shit, you're gonna be late!"

and with that april rushed about grabbing her things together, so that she could go to sixth-form.

Magic was one of the things that grounded hope, despite not being able to practice when she was younger due to potential enemies finding her. she found it calmed her senses, especially the smaller spells that didn't take much but were beautiful.

and that is exactly what she sat doing with sophie right now. of course, the girl was too interested in the fact she had 'superpowers' and was running around pretending to be iron man.

that didn't stop hope from trying, though.

"sophie, i wanted to teach you how to use you magic," hope protested, when she gained sophie's attention she said, "i- i mean superpowers!"

sophie ran over to hope and sat with her legs crossed, apparently that was how the child had to in school which hope knew due to her ramblings.

"yay! superpowers!" sophie exclaimed, she tried to read the words in the old book hope had but ending up furrowing her brow in confusion.

"it's a simple spell, let me show you," hope chanted some words under her breath and immediately a small raincloud appeared above them, and now it was raining in the middle of the living room.

sophie marvelled, so hope instructed, "repeat after me,"

"forma pluvia, forma pluvia, forma pluvia," the witches chanted - hope not using any magic to demonstrate how powerful sophie was.

after that, a cloud emerged from thin air. instead this time it was snowing, causing the child to giggle.

"sadly, it does what you want it to," hope stated, to which she earnt an excited giggle.

at that point the door then opened, revealing sophie's father warren, "you better not be destroying my living room,"

"in all fairness, she was meant to create a drizzle of rain and not a snow storm," hope replied with a sweet smile, earning a laugh from him.

"fair enough. you keep at your witchy-woo, because i have no intention of working it all out,"

Hope checked her phone before going back to sophie, but she wished she hadn't;

roman: look who i found
roman: *one picture attached*

it was april, looking innocent and walking to sixth-form with her mates. she didn't deserve a part in this war.

she didn't deserve a part in this war
