Chapter 23

"Fern" I shout and she comes downstairs. "What's up?" She asks and sits down on the sofa. "Adam's called me, mums passed away" I say
"Oh" she says
"It's okay to feel sad, or feel nothing at all okay" I say and grab her hand. "It's a weird feeling" she says
"I know it is" I say
"But you've still got me okay" I say
"I know" she says
"So are you and Jordyn together?" She asks
"What?" I say and laugh
"She's been wearing your clothes, you've been going to cafes as though they are dates" she says
"We are just friends Fern" I say
"I can't move on just yet okay" I say
"Okay" she says

The next morning I drop Fern off at school and head to Colney. I knew I had to talk to Leah. But I didn't want to.
I walk in and she was just behind me "could we talk?" I ask her. We go into a little room. "I'm sorry" I say
"Me too" she says
"I made a massive mistake and I know that. Everyone's being telling me that, my mother screamed at me, as well as Beth and your sister" Leah says
"I still love you Leah" I say
"I still love you too, but aren't you with Jordyn?" She asks
"Nah, we have had sex and shit but like it's not the same as it is with you le. Like, I only see her as a friend, I probably want thinking about everything properly when it happened" I say
"Yeah" she says and pulls me in for a hug. "I love you so much, and I'm sorry" she says
"Me too" I say
"But let's take things slowly yeah?" I say
"Yeah" she says. I give her a kiss before I leave and walk into the dining room. "Hey" Jordyn says
"Hi" I say
"Could I talk to you?" I say to Jordyn. She comes out the room. "Look jords, me and you, we should just be friends" I say
"Yeah I know" she says
We go back inside. "Everything good?" Beth asks me
"Yeah" I say

Jonas comes in "right, hello. Today I would like to announce something" he says. "Please could you make it to the meeting room?" He asks
Everyone looks at each other confused but walks there anyway.
We take some seats and he starts talking "with the transfer window being open, we have welcomed Jordyn, but with that it also means people leave" he says. Everyone looks around, who's leaving?
"I'm not leaving Jonas, it's called retirement" Jen says and stands up. "What?" We all say
I immediately stand up and pull Jen into a hug. "You can't go" I say
"I have to" she says
"My body isn't fit anymore" she adds

"I've decided to retire now, because I wanted to still have somewhat of a career in football this year, and I have. But now, I've realised my body isn't like how it used to. It no longer gives me the success I need to play a proper game. Although I'm leaving, that doesn't mean I won't be around. I'm going to become the assistant coach for the defenders, not like I know anything about defenders" she says, we laugh at her little joke and she says "no seriously, I love you all. It's bittersweet but I'll always be around"

After a long day I head home, as I'm driving I get a call of the school. "Hello is this Tessa?" They ask
"Yes" I say
"Your sister has collapsed" she says
"Okay, I'll be there in 10 minutes" I say
"She's got blood dripping down her. She apparently was taking something to be printed and fell onto the floor and hit her head on the wall" she says
"Okay thank you" I say

I drive as fast as I could being safe. I get there and I see teachers all crowded in the corner I go over and there was my sister.
"Fern?" I say, she was lying on the floor barely able to open her eyes. "Are paramedics on their way?" I ask
"Yes" one of the teachers says
I knew rose lived close "hey rose can you come to the secondary?" I ask
"Yeah" she says. Rose was a medic at arsenal. Without even 5 minutes passing rose came running through.

Students in glass classrooms got moved, and no one was allowed out their classroom. I see Grace hovering behind us. I turn around "hey Grace" I say
"Is she okay?" She asks
"I'm not sure Grace. Rose is checking on her now" I say
"I think you should go back to your lesson. I'll message you how she is later okay" I say and pat her shoulder.
She leaves and I lean down to rose. "Is she okay?" I ask
"She has a pulse, I'm guessing it's just shock that's knocked her. However I don't want to move her, incase theirs anything risky. I'll wait for the paramedics" rose says
"Thank you rose" I say
Rose cleaned her head up a bit showing a deep cut.
The paramedics eventually arrive, telling teachers to move out the way.
They do everything and say "we need you to try and sit up fern"
She tries and leans herself against the wall. "What happened?" She asks
"You've hit your head hard" he says
"Can I ask you some questions" he adds
She nods her head. "What's your name?" He asks
"Fern alessia Walter" she says
"How old are you?"
"15" she says
"What team does your sister play for?"
"Arsenal"
"We need to take her in for examinations, you know with the reason why she collapsed. And chances are she's going to need stitches" he says
"Yeah okay" I say
"Rose did you walk here?" I ask
"Yeah" she says
"Erm, do you mind driving my car to the hospital. I can get one of the girls to pick you up afterwards" I say
"Yeah it's fine" she says. I go in the ambulance with Fern and rose follows in my car.
We arrive at the hospital and I tell Leah to come.
I sit in ferns room whilst the doctor does her stitches.
They have to do blood tests and she would be here for the night.
