chapter nineteen

days, weeks, and months had passed by.
...
it's been 4 months, and nobody knows what Basil became.
Aubrey never forgave Sunny and Basil.
Hero is still angry.
but Kel was there for Sunny, ever since he got out of the hospital. he's the only one who didn't turned against him and Basil. he was even his boyfriend now.

Kel thought that Sunny's situation was getting better, he was 2 months clean of self harm, he didn't make any suicide attempts, yet he knew it wasn't getting better with his family, and from what Sunny told him, it was worsening each day.

11:47pm, FARAWAY TOWN.
bzzzt... bzzzt... a phone vibrating, someone calling. Kel looked at who was calling.

"Sunshine <3"

why would he call at this time ? something was happening. he immediately answered the phone, putting him on speaker, since Hero wasn't in his room.

-"Sunshine ! is everything okay ?"
Kel asked, worried.

-"hey, yeah, everything's okay." Sunny said, with a sleepy voice.
-"you sure ? why are you calling this late ?"
-"because i wanted to talk with you..." Sunny yawned, and Kel chuckled.
-"oh, i see, you want me to speak with you until you fall asleep ?"
-"exactly..." Sunny chuckled back, having a smile on his tired face.
-"turn on your face cam first !"

Sunny turned his face cam on, and so Kel did. Sunny was laying in his bed, on his side, cuddling with one of his plushies, his bedside lamp settled on the lowest brightness, his blanket covering him until his nose.

Kel founded him really cute.

Kel started to speak about his day, with a lot of details. Sunny loved hearing Kel's voice, he found it so comforting and soothing. he listened to Kel, without saying a word, just a smile on his sleepy face.

Kel spoke around 35 minutes, and it was enough to make Sunny fall asleep in call. he smiled upon seeing his boyfriend sleeping peacefully. he whispered a "goodnight", before hanging up.

Kel realised he received a message.

from Polly.

he opened it, and read it, hoping to get some news about Basil.

-"hello Kel, i've send this message to all of the friend group. i am sorry to tell you this only now, but i finally accepted what happened. your friend, Basil, committed suicide a week after getting out of the hospital. that's why you never saw him around or heard from him. he couldn't handle living alone again, he didn't wanted to live like this anymore. i am sorry for your other loss. i hope every of you are doing fine, and starting to get along again. i'll no longer live at Faraway town, and Basil's parents want to sold the house, it's not yet decided. from Basil's caretaker - Polly."

he couldn't believe what he read. his best friend, committed suicide, and he wasn't even able to help him. that could've been avoided if he had checked on him sooner.

but he did. he knocked at his door multiple times.

that's why Polly kept saying he was feeling unwell.

he should've checked on him sooner.

what a shame.

had Sunny also received this message ? Basil was Sunny's best friend after all... how would he react to it ? would it be a new to trigger a depression again ? a relapse ?

Hero noticed his brother looking shocked at his phone.
-"Kel ? you okay ?" Hero asked, sitting on his bed.
-"Basil... committed suicide." Kel couldn't believe that it was real. Hero's eyes widened.
