chapter twenty-nine

Kel knocked to Sunny's front door, and waiting for someone to answer. he heard footsteps and voices, and then the door opened.

Sunny's mother.
-"ah Kel ! it's always a pleasure to see you. what brings you here ?" she asked with a very sweet tone.

-"hello ! am here to get Sunny. is he here ?" he asked with his enthusiasm, happy to get to see his boyfriend again.

-"i'm sorry, Sunny isn't here... he told me he went on a walk and go buy somethings at Othermart or Fix IT..." she scratched the back of her head.

Kel got a bad feeling about this... he felt a bit panicked, and thoughts started to go trough his mind.

-"what if he ran away... or went to buy something to self harm !? or to kill himself !? or even worse... what if he tried to commit !?"

Kel took a deep breath, trying to get himself back together.

-"oh, okay then ! i'll go search for him. thank you !" he waved at Sunny's mother and left by running. Sunny's mother waved back and then closed the door.

Kel's first direction was Othermart. he checked the whole mall but no traces of Sunny.

he went to Fix IT next, going through every gallery, but not traces of Sunny.

he searched the whole plaza, he wasn't there. he then thought about the park, so he ran to it. his heart was racing, panicked. he knew that if Sunny had a suicidal pulsion, he would listen to it, and won't stop until he succeeded.

after checking the whole park, he leaned against a tree, and let himself slide down it. he buries his face in his hands, thinking of where Sunny could be.

-"yo, the orange joe lover !" a feminine voice echoed from afar. he tilted his head up, seeing a girl with pink hair and her nailed bat, and a group behind her.

Aubrey.

-"whatcha doing here ?"

-"i'm searching for Sunny... but i can't find him everywhere. i'm scared that he... y'know." Kel spoke quickly like he was desperate. Aubrey could feel how anxious her friend was. it was very unusual of Kel, so she knew it was serious.

-"oh yeah... i haven't saw him at all. we stayed at the park and the secret spot, so no traces of him." she sighed. she then turned to her other friends.

-"guys, i'm sorry, but i'll leave you here. i'm going to search Sunny with Kel."
Kel's eyes widened. Angel sighed and all of the groaned, beside Kim.

-"arghh, you better find him to leave us like this." Angel said, annoyed. Kim nudged him.

-"don't worry guys ! it's very important to find him back, so we will have a lot of fun while Aubrey searches Sunny ! come on let's go !" the rest of the Hooligans nodded and they followed Kim to the secret hang out spot.

Kel stood up, and he was really thankful to Aubrey.

-"thank you, Aub." he smiled, and without learning, Aubrey took Kel's hand and dragged him out of the park.

-"it's normal. where have you checked ?"

-"i've checked all of the Faraway plaza, along with the shops, and the whole park."

they continued to walk, looking through every street, every spot where Sunny could've hidden.

the two friends have checked every places in Faraway town. they don't know where else to look. Kel sighed out of annoyance and worry.
-"where the heck can he be !?"

he kept thinking of where he could be, where he could've missed him. actually, the both if them were. they were so worried about their friend. and then, Aubrey nudged Kel.

-"let's go check the Church !" she said exclaimed, and before Kel gets the time to answer, she grabbed his hand and started to run toward the Church.

they arrive, and make sure to not make any sound. he wasn't in the Church, but Aubrey was sure he would be at the Graveyard.

and she was right.

Sunny was sitting in front of Mari's grave. they didn't knew if he was crying or not. Kel was so relieved to see his boyfriend safe. he ran toward Sunny, and gave him a sudden hug from behind. Aubrey was walking toward the two boys

Sunny flinched to the sudden physical contact, and immediately recognised Kel's hand wrapped around his waist.

-"Sunny ! you scared me !" Kel exclaimed with worry. Sunny was a bit confused.

-"why ?"

-"i thought you... never mind. what matters is that i finally found you !"

Aubrey suddenly slapped the back of Sunny's head, but not too harshly, because she knew how weak her friend was.

-"that was for scaring us."

Sunny sighed, and Kel just kept his arm around him, kneeled next to him. both of Aubrey and Kel were looking at Mari's grave. new flowers were there, a bunch of them. some lily of the valley, roses, tulips..

-"did you buy them ?" Aubrey asked.

-"yeah... the other ones were dead when i came this morning, so i bought others..."

-"that's sweet. how long have you been here ?" Kel rubbed the back of Sunny, trying to cool him down. Sunny thought for a moment. he was very overwhelmed a minute ago, but Kel's presence always soothed him.

-"2pm, i think." Sunny answered. it's been 3 hours he has been here.

-"you're okay ?" Kel asked, a bit more worried about his boyfriend.

just a simple nod from Sunny. his eyes were a bit red, and he had eye bags. well, it wasn't new for Sunny to have them, but they looked a bit deeper.

-"stop lying, we know you're a good liar, but you're going to trick us." Aubrey tapped Sunny's shoulders. she was right, and he couldn't deny it any longer.

-"come here, my boy..." Kel said in a really soft and soothing voice, pulling the shorter boy into his embrace, holding him really tightly and close. right after, Aubrey joined the hug, patting her friend's back.

a small couple of seconds went by before Sunny ended up crying in the arms of his friends. he needed to let it out.

though Aubrey wasn't the kind of person to appreciate hug or stuff, she'd do an expectation for Sunny, because she knew he needed it.

-"i'm back with Sunny !" Kel announced when stepping in his house, Sunny behind him. the tall boy led the shorter one to his bedroom, which appeared to be empty.

Kel laid on his bed, and motioned Sunny to come and lay down beside him, so he did. they both got comfy and started to chat together. about a lot of stuff !

Sunny felt really lucky to have someone such as Kel in his life, he always felt safe with him, and he knew he could always count on him no matter what.

later in the afternoon, Kel's mother said to Kel that Hero wouldn't be back before tomorrow, because he went to help a friend from college and had to sleep there. so, Hero couldn't have a talk with Sunny like planned.

the day reached its end, Sunny had to go home, though he didn't want to.

he never wanted to.

he just wanted all of this pain to stop, all of this physical abuse from his father to stop.

his mother was someone more caring, but she was still very hard on him sometimes.
