chapter twenty-two

...

a month ever since Sunny didn't cut himself, 5 months since he was dating Kel, but also...

today is Kel's birthday.

Sunny got up quite early today, though he used to be an heavy sleeper from his 4 years of daydreaming. lately, he only did nightmares, so he doesn't sleep as much as before.

8:40am.
he dressed himself, brushed his hair, brushed his teeth, counted the money in his wallet

$48,6.

he doesn't remember having this much, but it was great. Sunny didn't realised that he was smiling to himself.

he quickly, carefully and quietly went down his stairs, and got out of his house, walking toward Othermart.

it was good to walk. it was still morning so it wasn't too hot outside, and there were some nice air. Sunny tried to think positive, like Kel recommended him.
thinking about things he liked to do, by example. it was kind of hard at the start, but he was sure that with Kel's help, he would feel better.

that's what he hoped.

he was a bit lost in thoughts on his way to Othermart, that he accidentally bumped into someone.

-"ugh ! can't you look at where you're go-" a feminine voice said, but stopped instantly. when Sunny stared in front of him, he saw a girl standing with a cyan blue hair tie, pink hair, cyan eyes...

Aubrey again.

-"S-Sunny !?" she was startled. even though she apologised to him, she was still frustrated, and she couldn't see Sunny the way she used to before.

-"i-im sorry..." he said with a very low voice.

-"ugh, don't apologise. where you going like that, all alone ?"

-"Othermart..."

-"Kel's birthday, i presume ?" guessed Aubrey.

-"yeah..." Sunny was still uneasy with Aubrey.

-"i've bought something too, don't buy the same as me." she then pulled out of her pocket, a bracelet with all of the oranges nuances. it was a beautiful bracelet, though Sunny thought of buying a necklace or a ring.

-"it's a good gift, Aubrey." Sunny tried to speak with a gentle tone, though his monotone voice got the better of his gentle one.

-"thanks. well, see you around." she walked past Sunny, and he sighed.

he noticed that Aubrey seemed frustrated.

by what ?

Mari's death ? Basil's suicide ?

by who ?

him ? Basil ? Kel ? Hero ?

herself ?

...

Sunny made his way to Othermart.

once arrived there, he wandered in the jewellery isle for a moment, before finding something perfect for him.

a necklace with a star in the middle of it, along with another smaller star hanging from the other.

the price was $38,5. he had enough to buy it.

though he wanted to buy something else along with the necklace.

he couldn't find what.

he had $10 left...

KNOCK KNOCK.

the door opened, and Kel warmly smiled to see his boyfriend again. he hugged him tightly before letting him come inside.
