THE DAWN - VMIN ONE SHOTS

TO BE WITH YOU UNDERNEATH THE BLOSSOMS

Been stuck with the thoughts of omega jimin getting a total whiplash from the sudden growth spurt of a teenage taehyung, the tiny scrawny pup he took under his wings.

Taehyung was so pocket sized, so fragile when his father, the pack healer, received him at their house during the fall of that year. Taehyung was a victim of the deadly flu that broke out in their pack. Taehyung's little body was trembling violently in his alpha father's arms while a six year old jimin helped his father bundle the pup in layers of their warm blankets. The sunken eyes and pale lips of the child were a harrowing image, swollen cheeks devoid of warmth.

Jimin didn't understand half of what his father was doing to lower taehyung's temperature to normal but he made himself useful, following his mother's instructions, wetting a washcloth to wipe down the child's burning body, fingers clumsy, pruned from the water. Jimin remembers his father petting his head when they reduced taehyung's fever a notch, also successful in feeding the sick child some sips of medicine and food.

It took two days of continued treatment and careful monitoring to help taehyung outlive the fever, cheeks restoring a little pink along with a lot of heat. Jimin was the first person a four year old taehyung saw after his fever subsided, eyes puffy and voice groggy from his illness. It's also the same day jimin learned that a tiny grateful smile can change lives.

Days later, jimin found two curious eyes watching him on the playground, a tiny body doing a very bad job in hiding behind the thicket near their school. It's almost funny to recall a mini taehyung scrambling to his feet to run away after jimin caught him red-handed, peeping not so cautiously. The next day, the pup had ambushed him on his way to school, adorable pink cheeks and puppy eyes, feet bouncing on the ground and hands curling around the posy he offered to jimin's face.

Jimin was suddenly stuck with the insane urge to protect this innocent baby at all costs. He got the chance to keep an eye over the child after taehyung began following him around, lovely orbs admirable and body clad in nice garments.

Taehyung looked up to him in many ways. Jimin was endeared by Taehyung's reverence towards him and also what he aspired to. If jimin wants to be a warrior after he grows up, taehyung wants to be his disciple. If jimin wants to leave the pack, Taehyung will follow him. If jimin dislikes mango, Taehyung will never eat it again. If jimin presents as an alpha, Little Taehyungie  also going to be an alpha. It's always 'hyungie, me too' to each one of his wishes.

Watching the pup who you sneaked in candies before bedtime and carried on the back now strong enough to throw you across the yard is more of an existential crisis than a mere afterthought to him.

Jimin has reasons to explain his frustration. He is the one tasked in his family to fetch water from the river north of their pack. Taehyung always accompanies him for a walk to the riverbed and also aids him in carrying pots back to his house. A young taehyung used (tried) to drag the vessels while trying to match his steps, spilling the contents with his childish enthusiasm to help his hyung so that by the time they reached Jimin's house, the container would be half empty. Though it cost jimin an added trip, he was pleased to see Taehyung making efforts to help him. Compared to that, now jimin doesn't have to struggle with the burden of taking multiple walks to bring water to their household. Taehyung doesn't even break a sweat from carrying four (one the pup gratefully snatched from jimin's hand) containers in a single walk, energetically chattering, a pep in his steps whilst jimin is having a hard time from scowling.

It's like taehyung went from 'help me, hyungie' to 'I'll help you, hyung' overnight. But what's the real reason for the vein bulging in his forehead so close to bursting is taehyung calling him cute and small.
