We stayed there on the shore for a while and then moved to the dock. We both sat down at the edge with our legs hanging over; our feet barely above the water. It had cooled down quite a bit and a light breeze had picked up. The sun had started to set and within what seems like not very long the sky turned from several colors into a dusky navy blue with several stars dotting throughout its expanse.
"Mason, are you okay?" I asked softly after a while.
Turning my head my gaze landed on him but he didn't move. His eyes never lifted from looking at the reflection the water gave. I couldn't see it but I could feel the depression that had settled within him.
"Mason, please look at me. Please talk to me. Please do something." I begged. I could hear the desperation clear in my voice.
It was only then that his gaze lifted from the water and his head turned towards mine; our gazes locking. I could see the hurt and disappointment in his eyes, from earlier, that had not left.
"You're not a freak. Don't you ever think that. Don't be disappointed in yourself. Don't beat yourself up about this. There is nothing wrong with you keeping that from me. That was your choice."
"I know." he said, a sigh escaping his mouth.
"Mason, I love you for who you are. Why can't you?"
He sighed and looked back down at the water.
"Because I... No matter what you say, I still feel like a freak."
I held out my wrists and showed him the scars I had always tried to hide, even after he found out.
"I feel like a freak too. I have scars and problems, but you have to realize that you do too. Everyone has their own scars and problems, but they're different for each person. Yours is your battle scars from fights. And I can only imagine what problems you're facing. Mine are the harmful words and actions of others when I didn't have anyone to save me. And I have acceptance and trust problems. But we all have to live with them. We have to accept who we are even if there are others that won't accept us. We are who we are because that's who we're supposed to be."
Now I was staring at the water, but I could feel his gaze on me. I scooted forward a little so that the tips of my toes rested on the surface of the water, braking the stillness and sending ripples across the surface and towards the shore on all sides.
"Reagan?"
Without looking up from the water, I answered him.
"Yes Mason?"
I watched him out of the corner of my eye as he slid towards me, along the dock, until his side was pressed against mine.
"Thank you."
"For what?" I asked, looking up at him.
"For helping me see who I really am, and not who I thought I was."
"You're welcome."
His hand hesitantly came up to the side of my face and I felt my breathing hitch when he leaned in and placed his lips on mine, sending ripples through my body just like the water.
"We should go home. They're probably worrying about us." He said after we parted.
"Probably." I agreed and we both stood and linked our fingers together while we made our way to the car.

I stood under the water coming down from the shower head and raked through my brain. Mason is a werewolf... Am I scared? No, I don't think I so. What is there to be scare of? He's been nothing but nice to me ever since I finally learned to accept this life and open myself up to him little by little. But that could change at any moment... Right? He could lose his temper and-
Going through my thoughts was cut short by a loud knock at the bathroom door. My head snapped towards the noise and one of my hands went to the shower dial that controlled the water, and shut it off.
"Reagan, are you almost done?"
Ruth's voice came through the door and the panic that had set in from fear slowly diminished.
"Yes, why?"
"Well, Mason has some guests coming over and he wanted them to meet you. So I was told to get you ready."
My eyes widened in surprise.
"But it's almost ten thirty in the evening!"
"Yes, I know, but that's usually when they come."
I stood there and stared at the wall. He wants his guests to meet me? Why me? I'm nothing special...
I sighed and stepped out of the shower, grabbing a towel in the process, and wrapping it around me.

About a half hour later or maybe it was an hour, I don't know, I lost track of time being that Ruth had me in the closet for so long trying on different outfits until I put on the perfect one.
"There, that should do it." She said stepping back away from me, admiring her handiwork.
Ruth gave me a big smile and then ushered me into the bathroom to help me with my hair and makeup.
When I was done, I stood there and looked at the creature standing in front of the full body mirror that was supposed to be me.
I sported a short black skirt with several layers of semi see through layers that came a little bit above my mid thigh held in place by a white belt. I wore a strapless, white crop top that was tucked under the skirt, and a white jacket with black flaps over. I had been given a pair of shiny black four inch pumps to put on.
My makeup consisted of a little bronzer to even out my skin tone and some blush. I had winged eye liner and Ruth had put some mascara on my lashes that made them seem at least an inch or so longer. The lipstick I wore was a deep fuchsia color an it went extremely well with my skin color.
My waist length blonde hair, which had turned to dirty blonde now, had been curled perfectly and styled in a way that my bangs still hung like they should buy a little off the sides had been pulled back and clipped behind.
Ruth walked up to me and handed me a necklace, pair of matching earrings, and a ring for me to put on to finish the look.
After I had put them in, I was ready to face Mason and his guests. The only thing worrying me was how to act. What if I slipped up? What if I made a complete fool out of myself? What would Mason do?
"Ruth, would you please get the door?My guests are here!" Mason yelled up the stairs to my room, but thankfully he left and didn't come up.
Ruth looked at me and smiled. Then she kissed me on my cheek and turned to go obey orders.
I walked over to a shelf and picked up a perfume bottle, spritzed it on me, then turned towards the mirror once more and looked myself over before I decided it was time to go downstairs.
Taking a deep breath I walked down the stairs and out of my room, towards the "lobby" of Mason's house.
As I walked down the hall towards the top of the stairs I could hear talking, which made my heart beat speed up with anticipation and fear.
Finally I stood at the top of the stairs. The clicking of my heels must have caught their attention because four pairs of eyes looked up to me.
Two males, not bad looking I might add, and an extremely pretty woman along with Mason stood there and gaped at me. Well, the woman more or less glared.
This caused only one question to poke at me and battle with my heart.
Will they accept me?
