My fingers brushed across the soft fabric and the memories came back; the men being ripped apart, thrown everywhere, by a single wolf that didn't come near me or try to harm me. The fact that I had almost lost my life scared me the most. What happened exactly?

The sheets finally registered in my mind, causing my eyes to open quickly and my body to come to the sitting position. Looking around the room, I noticed that I was in Mason's room, laying on his bed. But how? How did I get here?

I was about to get up from the bed but stopped when the door opened and Mason walked in. He was shirtless which made it easy to see his injuries. But how'd he get injured if I didn't even see him fighting?

"Where were you?" I blurted out unexpectedly. My hand quickly covered my mouth and I could feel my cheeks getting red. I can't believe I just did that.

His eyes were wide with surprise. I highly doubt he expected me to talk, let alone question him.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, where were you when I was getting attacked."

"I was there."

"No you weren't."

He looked at me, with what seemed to be amusement in his eyes.

"And why do you say that?"

"Because I didn't see you."

"And that's the only reason?"

I sat there and thought about it.

"Yea."

"Well, actually you did see me."

"What? No I didn't. You were nowhere to be found."

"I was there. You just don't understand yet," he said, coming to sit by me on the bed.

I let out a frustrated sigh and clutched the sheets into my fists. I lowered my gaze to my lap and furrowed my eyebrows trying to make sense of what he was saying. But the thing is, I couldn't. It didn't make sense. The only way he could have been there is if he was the wolf. But that isn't even possible. A person can't be a wolf! Werewolves are mythical creatures. So why do I feel like that's what was going on? Could he be... No, don't be silly.

"Are you okay? You seem to be arguing with yourself," Mason's voice broke through my thoughts and pulled me back into reality. I looked up at him and nodded my head.

"Yea, I'm fine. And yes, I was arguing with myself."

"Well, are you done?"

I thought about it. I wasn't sure honestly. I still didn't have an answer. But reluctantly I nodded my head.

"Yes, I guess so."

"Good."

He lunged for me and I quickly rolled out of the way. I heard him grunt in frustration. He wasn't going to catch me. I won't let him.

"Get back here!" He yelled, I saw the smile stretching across his face.

"No! You have to catch me!"

"That'll be easy."

"Will it?"

"Yes."

"Okay then."

He wet for me again, but I dodged. It was getting funnier and funnier for me and more and more frustrating for him every time he missed.

Finally I was standing in front of the couch and he was behind it. Every time he would move one way, I'd move the other. My eyes where taking in his every move; reading his body, telling me what he was planning. Suddenly he bolted one way and not expecting it, I lost time so I went to jump per the couch. I got halfway over, hurdling it easily, but his hands grabbed my waist and pulled me back.

"Ugh!" I said extremely loud.

He laughed and just flipped down on the couch with me on top, straddling his body. His hands rested on my hips and his eyes stared into mine.

"You won."

"And you put up a fight."

"Damn right I did," I said, earning a laugh from him.

"So what are we going to do today?"

"Well... I'm not sure. Stay in bed?" he suggested and wrapped his arm around me. Then pulled me back towards him so that I was laying next to him.

I giggled and let my head fall onto his chest. A smile crossed my face as his arms rested around me and his hands on my stomach.

"I love you," he said.

"I love you too."

"Do you want to go to the lake?"

I sat upright quickly and looked at him with excitement coursing through me.

"Yes! Except it's turning to fall. It'll be too cold to swim."

"It's never too cold to swim."

"Uh, yes it is," I said and then laughed.

"Whatever you say," he said and sat up.

"I should probably get dressed," I said and then stood up and made my way out of his room and into my own.

As I took a shower and got ready, I couldn't help but think about how I didn't see him last night. Yet he said he was there. And what does he mean by I don't understand yet? Understand what? I'm so confused. The only way he could have been there is if he was that wolf... But that isn't humanly possible. Is it?
