Winter break went on as usual. Out of anger, Maia went almost 2 days ignoring her aunt and uncle, after they not only lied to her, but didn't even bother to write her back after she confronted them about it. She finally came out of her room to eat, and get ready for their big pureblood Christmas party, which she sat with Astoria for and did absolutely nothing.

When they got back to Hogwarts, the first thing Maia did was head towards Remus' office, until she faced a bit of an obstacle on the way, bumping into someones shoulder.

"Sorry-" Maia didn't even look up.

"You seem happy." Maia stopped in her tracks. "Maia-"

"Nope. Fred, we are not doing this here. Now, if you'll excuse me." she moved to start walking again.

Fred grabbed her arm to stop her. "You can't avoid me forever."

"Watch me." she pulled her arm away, and continued to walk towards Remus' office.

Maia knocked on Remus' office, and waited. And waited. And waited.

"Uncle Moony?" Maia tilted her head, knocking again.

"I'm afraid he's fallen ill again, Miss Black." a stern voice spoke behind her. Professor Snape.

"Oh. That's alright- I- I'll stop by later." she nodded, trying to get out of Snape's presence, she only ever put up with him for potions class.

Before she could walk away, Snape stopped her again, "You and Professor Lupin have seemed to have developed quite the relationship, Miss Black."

Maia huffed in frustration at the man's attempt at conversation. "Yes. He's my godfather, now if you'll excuse me-"

"Be careful, Miss Black. You wouldn't want anyone to think you two were up to something." Snape grumbles.

Maia was visibly angry, but was not in the mood to fight with Professor Snape at the moment. "Good day, Professor." she nodded, gritting her teeth, before walking away.

Maia walked to the Slytherin dorms, deep in thought, but also furious at Professor Snape. She was thinking about Remus. He had supposedly "fallen ill again." The timing odd. He ends up sick almost once a month.

"I hope he's okay. Perhaps, he has some odd condition, like those muggles call "chronic illness" or something. Either way, I hope Uncle Moony's okay. Uncle Moony. Moony. He's sick every..."

And so it clicks.

"Werewolf."

She stops in her tracks. It all makes sense. Him disappearing, the scars, the nicknames, all of it. She had planned to talk to him about it later.

Maia continued making her way towards the dorms.

"Maia! Finally! There's a parcel for you- on your bed!" Astoria sighed impatiently.

She walked over towards her bed, and picked up the small parcel. She opened it, revealing a silver necklace. It had a constellation charm on it. The Taurus constellation. The Maia star. She smiled.

"Who's it from?" Astoria said, taking a bite of a chocolate wand.

"I- I'm not sure..." Maia assumed it was from Remus.

"Hm! Odd- At least its pretty!" Astoria flipped the page of her Witch Weekly magazine.

"Yeah... it's quite beautiful..." Maia mumbled.

The next day, Maia woke up early, to find Remus. Hopefully, he was in his office, as classes started up again that day.

"Uncle Moony! Are you in there?" she knocked on the door.

"Just a second, dear!" Remus called out.

He came around and opened the door, the scar on his face and neck looked fresh. Maia gave a wince at his condition.

"Oh- my- Remus you look-" Maia started.

"I- It's nothing- I just-" Remus began trying to make an excuse for himself, as he let her into his office.

"Uncle Moony- It's okay. I think I- No. I know." Maia nodded.

Remus kind of chuckled. "Know? Oh dear, little one, know what?"

"That you're a werewolf."

"Maia." Remus went pale. "You can't-"

"I wouldn't. Ever. I won't see you differently either. I know you! You're my Uncle Moony! You could never have any cruel intentions." Maia reassured him, pulling him into an embrace.

Remus hugged her back, feeling tears prick his eyes, but he immediately shook them off.

"I know you! You're my Moony! You'd never have any cruel intentions."

He thought about those same words, said by this girl's father years ago.

"Figured you'd find out soon enough. You have your mother's smarts." Remus laughed.

Maia smiled. "Oh! Thank you for the necklace!"

"What necklace, dear?" Remus cocked an eyebrow.

"...the constellation one?" Maia tilted her head, and pulled the necklace out from under her shirt. "I assumed it was from you, there was no note!"

Remus' face dropped. "Merlin's beard. Harry was just in a similar situation- Maia. I need to borrow your necklace."

"Situation? For what? Who could it- Oh." Maia gave him a face of realization, before taking off the necklace, and putting it in his hand.

"Right then. I'll have this to McGonagall, and I promise if there is nothing wrong with it then I'll bring it back to you, love." Remus nodded.

Maia was speechless. She simply nodded back, and stood up from her seat to head back towards the door.

"Oh- Maia, dear. I'm glad you're back." Remus smiled at her.
