Gloom and Glow

The Presentation

     On the TV at the cafe, Terry was there being showcased as a young, talented painter as he won first place of the Weinsburg College's Annual Art Competition. Selena looked at the TV at the cafeteria, surprised.

     "Guess there will be more girls going after him now," her friend told her as Selena looked face filled with jealousy.

     "I mean, she got a boyfriend now, Terry should be the least of her concern. Wait, are you going to introduce him to us?" Scarlet asked.

     "It's a secret relationship," she sighed.

    "Does he even exist, Selena?" Emi asked.

    "Have you kissed him yet?" Scarlet asked, making a wide smile with both hands on her cheeks.

     "No, sigh..."

      "Well, I started dating Ryan a few days ago," her friend said proudly.

     "HOW?!" Scarlet looked at her shocked, "Ryan, like Ryan, the guy from the basketball team?"

      "Yes, that Ryan, it just he was at the party and we started talking, and damn, both of us had so much in common."

    "I am so happy for you, Emi!"

     "Yeah, I might be going out with him later."

     Hearing them celebrating made Selena a bit jealous as she started to leave the table, "I am going now."

      "Wait, our food -"

      "You two can share!"

      She walked away in a hurry as the two friends stared at each other, "You know, I can take the extras."

     "No, you need to cut the last one in half!"

      As Selena managed to find the location of where Terry was, she peeked at the wall, looking at him with a serious look on her face. From a distance, she was able to spot a blonde-haired girl, walking towards him, looking excited.

       "Excuse me, Mr. Winchester, do you mind having a coffee with me? I wanted to learn more about what inspired you."

      "Uhh... I have to meet someone, I am sorry."

      "Oh, is it a close friend?"

       He was sweating, trying to lie his way out, looking to his right to see Selena peeking through the wall, as his face turned from nervousness to mild annoyance, "kind of, I knew them since we were kids."

      Selena realized he spotted her and started to panic.

      "I'll settle the interview after lunch then if you don't mind."

      While Terry was trying to convince the interviewer she was trying to escape, taking quick steps and turning back to look once but when she turned to the front she saw him in front of her, with his arms folded and tapping it with his fingers.

       "Did you seriously think I won't spot you?"

       "Damn it, vampire powers."

      Later on, they went to Cranberry'lls. He was tapping his fingers on the table, covering his forehead, sighing to himself while she looked at the menu curiously.

     "This a restaurant for both races?"

     "Keep it down," he told her in a low. voice, "it's a new restaurant, and these are substitute blood," he lifted the glass, "They don't taste as good, but it's edible to humans too."
