Gloom and Glow

Party

    Selena got excited when her friends told her about the news.

     "Wait, Emily invited me to her party? Am I hearing this right? I am not dreaming right?" She asked excitedly, you could almost see the sparkles inside her eyes when she said that.

     Her friend Scarlet, AKA as Scar just rolled her eyes looking at her friend, Scarlet is Fedrick's sister, they both looked alike but had completely different personalities, but Selena managed to befriend both of them despite that.

     The brown-haired girl was hopping happily around like a child as her friend just sighed. "You better be grateful she invited you, it's rare for people to invite a dweeb like you."

      "I am so happy! I can't wait to meet people there, must be---"

      "Let's focus on walking and less on talking," Eliza said.

     After some walking with her female friends, Eliza turned to her to ask her a question, "heard you moved Selena, where did you go?"

     Selena wanted to tell them that she moved with Terry, but then she remembered one Sunday morning...

     Terry woke her up by pulling her blanket away from her on a Sunday morning, glaring at her, "wake up, I have to wash this sheet," he told her.

     Selena curled up in the bed, even more, hugging her pillow tightly, she didn't want to wake up, "what are you? My mother?"

       The moment Terry heard that, he got pissed. He ended up forcing Selena to wash all the sheets by herself as he watched her doing that with his arms folded, and screamed at her to fold it once she finished washing them.

       "Earth to Selena!" Her friends waved at her face because she was dazing out.

     "Uhh, yeah, I just moved to a house on a hill?"

      "Uhh..." Eliza looked at Selena, "can't you just get a normal place? That sounds... pretty creepy."

         "Well, I mean, so far it's cosy," she said, and she tried to think about the things she loves during her stay in the mansion, "like I get to eat popcorn on movies night!"

       Though Terry was the one who was holding the popcorn, even though he had absolutely no need to hold the popcorn. He said it was for the feels.

    They walked closer to the house, "did you ever think about getting a boyfriend?"

      She looked at them with an awkward expression on her face, she hadn't thought about getting a boyfriend ever. Selena rather be free and be out of a relationship, because being in a relationship requires commitment, which she isn't ready for.

      Eliza squinted her eyes while looking at Selena, "I think it's better for you to get a guy."

      "Huh?"

      Scar nodded, "like you can no longer be independent after your head injuries, or to be honest maybe being chained to someone can help you mature."

      Selena felt like she just fell into a dark void when her friends said that, but she took it as a motivation for her anyway.

      Eliza agreed with Scar, "well, okay, we should try that, she probably matures that way."

      The three reached Emily's house as Emily opened the door and waved at the three of them, "hey, thanks for coming!" Emily said excitedly hugging her friends. Scarlet looked at Emily's dress and complimented it as the two giggled together, and Eliza just pulled Selena's hand as they went deeper inside. Selena looked at someone she felt familiar with from the corner of her eyes, she felt like this person looks so familiar, like the backside of his head. He had a plastic cup in his hand with water in it.
