Chapter 7

👮🏼‍♀️Vanessa's👮🏼‍♀️POV:

          Once again, I'm back at this boring job. This week, I work the morning shift, so it should be fine. Waking up at 4 AM to start the job at 6 AM can be exhausting, but I suppose it's worth it since I just take care that no one gets near animatronics more than allowed and that animatronics don't ruin something, or themselves.

          I left my stuff in the office and made myself some more coffee. It gets me through the morning. There's really nothing to worry about at this time since animatronics don't really walk around at this time, and there aren't any performances. I get to relax mostly. But I do have to go around the Pizzaplex a few times just to check if everything is alright.

          After I finished my second cup of coffee this morning, I decided to have a small patrol around the place. It's already seven in the morning! Time flies when you try to nap a little. I could go around the Daycare, its work time does starts at 6:20 in the morning, to be fair. I wondered why does the Daycare start so early, but I saw that a lot of parents leave their children there because they got early morning jobs too.

          Getting closer to the 'Superstar Daycare' area, I saw a lot of people and children there, mumbling something to each other. What is happening there? Isn't the Daycare Attendant supposed to open the doors for them? I walked up to them.

👮🏼‍♀️- Good morning, people! What's going on here? - I tried to sound as welcoming as possible despite my morning tiredness.

🧔🏻‍♂️- Finally an employee here!

👩🏽‍💼- Didn't know they have humans employed here. - That's actually fair.

👮🏼‍♀️- Okay, okay. What's happening here?

👱🏻‍♀️- Most of us are standing here for almost an hour and the robot isn't opening the doors! It didn't even answer our calls!

👮🏼‍♀️- That's weird. The Daycare Attendant Sun is always eager to open the doors as early as possible for all children.

👨‍🦰- We're still waiting!

👮🏼‍♀️- Alright, I'll go and check if they are okay. Sun and Moon are never late.

🧔🏻‍♂️- And hurry up! We are late on our jobs.

👮🏼‍♀️- Right away, sir.

          I took my 'Superstar Daycare' pass card and opened the doors, and then closed them behind me. I tried looking around but I couldn't find them anywhere. Sun is usually cleaning around. Where are those two? What is going on in here?

          There is only one more place to check now, their room. If they aren't there, I suppose I should call by boss then. He wouldn't be happy to hear that two animatronics just disappeared overnight. How do I get into their room now? I don't think I was ever there.

           Hmm, there is a hook that the Daycare Attendant uses to fly around and get to their room, but I don't know how to use it. Ugh, I guess I'll have to go and get those giant ladders... That is a long way.

          Well, it took me twenty minutes but I'm finally up on the 'Sky stage'! I better hurry up because those parents are starting to get angry. Down there. More complaints to 'Superstar Daycare' won't be good...

          I moved the curtains and went it. It took me less than a minute to find their room. Looking around for them, I started losing hope until I tripped on something and fell on the floor. I shook my head and got up from the floor. I looked down to see what I tripped on and my eyes opened wide. They were there! Gosh... What happened to them...?

          They look... A bit burnt on the face? Their colours are all messed up and their face is a total, horrifically terrible mess! I wonder what happened here... Did someone do this to them or... I have no idea. It doesn't even matter right now. I should bring them to 'Parts and service' and call my boss. I need to tell those patents that they will have to find someone else to take care of their children today.

          After telling parents to go away, I brought the Daycare Attendant to 'Parts and service'. That took me so time. They are surprisingly pretty heavy for their lanky and skeletal self. Yeah, they are VERY tall but so scrawny. Never mind, I gotta call Glitchtrap.

📞🔪- Yes, Miss Vanessa?

👮🏼‍♀️- Hello, Mr. Glitchtrap! Sorry to bother you, but we have a problem. The Daycare Attendant is... Well, broken in a mild word.

📞🔪- What!? How did that happen?

👮🏼‍♀️- Wish I knew. I brought them to 'Parts and service'.

📞🔪- Alright. I'll be there in a few minutes.

🔪Glitchtrap's🔪POV:

          I got to 'Parts and service' as soon as I could. Miss Vanessa told me that dear Sundrop and Moondrop got a bit... A bit broken. What sad news! Wonder how that happened. I suppose I have to fix them now. Again. I certainly will not let other technicians do that. Last time I let them fix these two, it... Didn't end well.

🔪- Good morning, Vanessa! How are you this morning, dear? - I bowed in and asked the basic question in politeness.

👮🏼‍♀️- Morning, sir! I'm alright, thanks for asking. What about you?

🔪- I have never been better! Believe me. So, what is the problem here?

👮🏼‍♀️- I really wish I knew. I was patroling around and saw a lot of people with children, just waiting in front of the 'Superstar Daycare'. It wouldn't be unusual, but it was already seven in the morning and I know that the Daycare Attendant is never late.

🔪- Oh, yes. Sun is always right at the time! Waking up sooner than needed.

👮🏼‍♀️- Uh, yeah. I went to check what's up with them and found them on the floor in their room. They were unresponsive and looking like this.

🔪- I see... Well, Miss Vanessa, you are free to go to your office now! You have just a few more hours of your shift anyway. Drink a cup of coffee while you're at, why not? A nice and warm cup of tea would be good too, yes?

👮🏼‍♀️- I suppose. Well, thank you for being kind, sir. I'll go back to my office now.

🔪- Of course, Miss! Politeness costs nothing but feels wonderful, doesn't it?

👮🏼‍♀️- Indeed, indeed, yeah... Well, good luck with them, sir!

🔪- Thank you! Have a nice rest of the day.

          Miss Vanessa left from 'Parts and service', and I was alone again. Well, not alone if we count this half dead fella here. Where do I even start? Their memory chips are safe, I see. I suppose I'll need to make them a new body then. There's no purpose in trying to fix this one! Ugh, it'll take time to make such a functional body again... Unless.
