Chapter 16: Finding out

Chapter 16

Peeta's P.O.V.

Katniss has been very down lately. For a brief second I actually thought that she was going to be okay. For a brief second I thought she could be happy again.

But she's not. She's getting more and more down everyday. I know she's struggling with her cutting. I can see that. And sometimes she gives in. Sometimes she doesn't give in.

She almost doesn't want to go to school anymore. She's getting more and more harassed. Finnick, Gale and I have been receiving a lot of detention these past days, because we beat up guys who calls Katniss a whore and slut. Madge and Annie has also been in detention a lot for slapping girls. And Katniss seems to be more and more sad about that. We're sticking up for her, she knows that, but she said that she doesn't want us to get into trouble because of her.

I would die to save her. I think that she's starting to realize that because she keeps telling me to not take any risks. She keeps telling me that she's not worth it.

She is worth it. I've told her that so many times I've lost count. Finnick's been telling her that. Gale, Annie and Madge has been telling her that. But it's like she doesn't hear us, like she doesn't want to hear us. I wish she could hear us.

Currently I'm sitting in the couch at home, watching tv. I'm suppose to be at Katniss later today. It knocks on my door.

Before I even have time to walk to the door, it opens and a few seconds later, Finnick and Gale appears in the living room.

"What are you two doing here?" I ask uninterested.

"What? Not happy to see your brother-in-law and friend?" Gale asks.

I roll my eyes. The throw themselves down in the couch beside me.

"So what are you watching?" Finnick asks.

I shrug my shoulders. I don't really know yet. It's commercials.

We wait patiently. When it's over America's got talent starts.

"Ugh not this crap", Gale whines. "Can't we watch something else?"

"It's not that bad", Finnick says.

I'm not really into this either. But it seems like Finnick want to see it. What harm could it do? The only thing I know about this show is that they have auditions and then show them on tv and after some time show it live with the people who's succeeded at the audition.

I raise the volume a bit.

One guy shows some magic tricks, he made it. Another tried calling on a pig. Did not make it. Another danced and made it. That's when it happens.

"And now a girl who hopes to impress the judges", the voice says and shows a dark haired girl with gray eyes walk up on the stage.

"Katniss?!" Finnick, Gale and I shout as we jump out of the couch at the exact same time like we've got fire on our asses.

"Did you know about this?" Finnick looks at me.

"No!" I say. "Of course not".

"Is she good?" One of the TV hosts asks.

I see who he's talking to. Annie, Madge, Prim and Ali, Annie's little sister.

"She's so amazing", Annie says.

They show Katniss walking up on stage.

The judges Howie Mandel, Howard Stern, Melanie Brown and Heidi Klum, are all looking at her with gentle eyes.
