The blinding light was the first thing to have hit my vision, disabling me from walking off the steps of the train. We had just made it to the Capitol, traveling for a week. The ride had been smooth as there wasn't any abnormal weather.
My stay in the train was pleasant as it could've been. I had more than an enough supply of food, on top of a kitchen to which I could use to my ability. There was a bed that was comfy enough for me to try and get some rest, although I didn't get much. There was a constant fear in my mind that someone could come in and hurt me, I didn't know what the Capitol had in mind for me when I arrived.
That wasn't the only thing on my mind though,
My mind was constantly filled with thoughts of him. I wanted to know what he was doing. I wanted to know if he missed me. I wanted to know if he even cared about my arrival.. if he knew I was coming.
My eyes adjust to the rays of the sun coming down on me, I hadn't been out in it in a week. There was no stopping on the train. The Capitol smelled different than 12.
"Well, well, well.. if it isn't Lucille Gray." a voice calls out.
I turn around to the concrete path that lead to several Capitol government buildings. A tall woman was walking on it. She spoke in an accent that only the Capitol had, a tone that held itself with such poise but at the same time so snarky. She didn't look much older than me, 5 years maybe? She had long, straight black hair that went down all of her back. Her complexion was bronze but looked as though makeup has tried to lighten it, maybe to make her look more presentable to Capitol standards? She had determined brows as though she knew what she wanted. She had big full lips that paired with a mauve lip-gloss looked as though she was made out of wealth. She had a long face that was paired with her long body. Although, you could barely tell how long it really was with her large eyes. This woman was plump, not fat, but was full. She was skinny but she had curves that we're practically nonexistent back in 12. We never had enough food to complete them. This woman was as Capitol as they could come.
She got close to me and I could smell her, she smelled like some wealthy perfume. I thought she would've stopped further away from me but she got less than an inch from my face.
When she's this close to me I can't help but realize her dark mahogany colored eyes sparkled like no other brown eyes I'd seen before. I also couldn't help but realize that there was no emotion behind that sparkle.
She grinned in my face, tilting her head to the side. "Well you haven't aged a day since you left Lucille."
"It's Lucy Gray." I scoff in her face. Her eyes turned nasty and then rolled her eyes. She took a step back.
"Believe whatever you want but just letting you know now, you won't be called that here." She smirked. "I'm Leonora Du Pont." She announced, raising out her hand for a handshake.
"What am I doing her?" I look directly in her eyes, not accepting her handshake. She lowered her hand back to her side of her dark navy dress. I hadn't realized before how it hugged her hips just right. It looked like it was a school uniform, not like Coriolanus' previous one. I couldn't tell if it was the suit or her natural figure that made her shoulders so broad. Her skirt going just above her knee.
"Hmm, I was wondering when you were going to ask that. Follow me, Dr. Gaul wants you." she turns and starts walking along the path. There we're no peacekeepers that we're awaiting me off the ship, nor were there any that came with Leonora, must that mean they weren't scared of me running away? I mean, with what they threatened it was enough for the thought to be squashed from my brain.
I followed her into a large government-like building.
As we rode up the elevator, we stopped at the 74th floor. She walked out first into a hallway filled with peacekeepers. Unlike the path outside, this building was covered in them. The dull lighting hardly enabled any emotions to be portrayed throughout our walk. Before I knew it we stopped outside two large double doors.
Leonora turned around to face me, "This is where you're left to fend for yourself little bird." She states as she lifts her hands, signaling that this was where we say goodbye.
She begins to walk back to the elevator before she stops, turning to face me again.
"This isn't our final goodbye I'm afraid." She seemed disappointed by that fact, "I'll be in the lobby downstairs waiting for you."
She finally turns back to the direction of the elevator to where she finally disappears.
I guess I'll speak to Dr. Gaul alone..
I had heard of her existence from Coriolanus but never did I think I'd actually meet her one day.
I finally work up enough confidence to grip the handle of the door, but before I can actually open it, its open before me.
I slowly walk into a large room, to what I believe is Dr. Gaul's office or... it looks more like a laboratory. There's shelving units that are lining the walls in different terrariums, different tanks. It looks like there's an unrecognizable amount of animal parts to even human parts? My brain can barely acknowledge the amount of diabolical containers in this wretched room.
There's another row of shelving units that basically make a hallway to what looks like a desk.
I walk myself through the makeshift corridor, trying to not get too close to any of the shelves nor try to look directly at anything. All the experiments this woman had done was making my stomach turn just looking at it from a distance.
I make my way closer to the desk, as there's two large leather chairs in front of it. Behind the desk is an even larger office chair with its back turned to me. On the desk there's countless papers, books, achievements, blueprints.. everything you would imagine from someone like Dr. Gaul.
"Well if it isn't Lucille Gray.." the ominous voice from whoever sat in the chair bellowed. The chair turns around.
"I've been waiting for you." Dr. Gaul is revealed with the least comforting smile you could imagine.
