Victor
When she shot up from the seat, the instant fear in her eyes was replaced by confusion as she observed the scenery from the window. She felt her chest, then her face. She rapidly unbuckled the seat belt to unrestrain herself.
"Calm down," I said. "You're okay."
Aria whipped her head in my direction. Her disheveled blonde hair had speckles of visible blood and she freaked out at the sight of the blood in her hair.
I grunted, "Stop screaming."
She panicked, persistent in her attempt to scrape the blood from her hair. I opened the arm rest and found her some napkins. "Just calm down.""Stop telling me to calm down!" Aria shouted. "Is this regular for you? This is not normal!" She snatched the napkins and scrubbed her hair to no avail, for the blood was seeped into her strands.
"Fuck." She gave up.The hot tears just streamed down her bright red face. She buried her face into her small palms, furiously sobbing.
I was still. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know if she was in shock, just processing, or going crazy.
The only feasible solution in my mind was to slowly pat her on the back. I hesitantly reached over, my hand wavering in mid-air before I pushed myself to comfort her. I rubbed my hand up and down her back. She wiped her face and pushed my hand away. "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be in this predicament."
"Oh, you're going to blame me?" I gasped.
"Do you know what he did to me?"I bit down, pressing my teeth together harshly. I didn't want to think about what that bastard did to her.
"You may be able to heal yourself and then heal me but I was still injured. He stabbed me, Vic! He cut me deep to the point where I passed out from the pain. He had me chained like I was some animal. He hit me in the face. He beat me!" She felt her face again, noticing that she was fully healed and didn't need any medical attention. "I swear," she gave a small maniacal, hysterical laugh. "So, yes. Yes, I blame you." She spat. "This is your fault."
"No," I interrupted her. "This is your fault."
"How is it my fault!?" Aria turned her body toward me. "You know what? If you're looking for a thank you, you're sorely disappointed because I'm not saying it. Screw you and screw all the people after you," she angrily pulled on the door handle a few times. "Damn this car. Let me out!"I chuckled at her struggle.
She blew a breath, "What's funny?"
"Nothing.""Liar," she mumbled.
"You know, people come after you because you can't keep your mouth shut. Secrets are supposed to be taken to your grave, and not told to every close friend or strangers at a damn ball."She gave me a sheepish smile whilst she fiddled with her fingers. "Is that how this happened?" She scratched the back of her head then sighed. "I guess I'm sort of at fault," she admitted.
"What made you want to share my secrets with people you don't even know?" I questioned. I folded my arms, waiting for her answer.
"At the ball, there was a myth table about the town. I didn't think anyone would take me serious. I thought we were all just talking about it for fun," Aria tucked a blonde stray strand behind her left ear. "I told Robin. Robin dragged me to the table. I didn't think we were doing any harm." She bit her lip as she was deep in thought.
The only thing I heard was that she spilled more than what she intended.
"Princess you make me want to erase your memories," I told her honestly.
She frowned, "I said sorry."
"You told other people, including your friends," I reprimanded her.
"Fine. I'll just tell Robin I lied," she rolled her eyes."No need. I'll take care of it," I pulled the keys from the ignition.
"What are you going to do?" Aria's eyes widened."What do you think?" I retorted.
"Don't hurt her," Aria pleaded.
"What do you take me for? A monster?"She went silent and I instead spoke up, "I'm not going to kill her princess. I'm just going to erase her memories of me."
"She doesn't have any memories of you," Aria whined.
"Knowledge of me then," I corrected."Can't you just let her be?"
"Why? So she can take you to another ball and spill more secrets to more people looking to hunt me and my kind down? No ma'am."
"Fine," Aria sighed.
I exited the van and walked around to Aria side to open the door for her. She stepped out, easy to not take herself too fast.
"Whose car is this anyway?" Aria was disgusted at the sight of the rusting tan van.
I replied, "Just something to get us home." I slammed the passenger door. She suddenly asked, "Can I go with you?"
"I'm not going anywhere," I denied.
"When you go to Robin," she said. She took my hand into hers. "Please. Pretty please.""Nothing is going to happen to her, princess. I'm not going to kill her, hide her, turn her, or whatever it is that you're thinking. If it can be erased, I'll do that instead."
She released my hand and I was sad that the warmth was gone. "Just get some rest."
"But," she began to protest.
"Princess," I gave her a knowing look.
"Okay, fine," she ceased. "But let me know personally when it's done.""Do you not trust me?" I smiled.
"Shut up. She's my best friend," Aria explained."I will personally come knock on your door to tell you how I successfully erased your best friend's memories. Deal?"
"While you're at Robin's, make her mother call my father to explain my whereabouts last night."
"Sure," I nodded. Add that to the plan.
"And can you buy pizza?" She showed me all her pearly white teeth as she grinned.
"Fine."
She squealed, "Yes!" Jumping up and down followed by a short dance, "I want meat lover supreme."
I guess the kidnapping was no longer worrying her and everything was replaced by hunger. Her stomach growled and I sure enough got my answer. She tried to cover the sound with her arm; her flushed round cheeks gave way to her dimple.
"I'll be right back princess," I ushered her inside my home.
"Wait," she tugged my jacket. The way she didn't want to let go indicated she was afraid. Her darting eyes speculated the place.I somehow read her mind. "Okay. Just sit on the couch." I shoved the remote in her hand while I did a sweep throughout my house.
"No one is hiding in here. Now just give me ten minutes," I said.
"Alright. I already ordered the pizza. So just pick it up," she clicked on a cartoon show."You don't seem scared to me," I clicked my teeth.
"Because I have a big strong man like you to protect me while I barricade myself in your home and wait for food," her sarcastic reply didn't anger me.
It made me take pride in myself, boosting my already ridiculously big ego.
"Drop the smirk or I'll take it back," Aria threatened.
"You can't," I sung.
"Whatever. Hurry and leave so you can come back with pizza!" She whined."Do I look like the food man to you?"
"Doesn't matter if you do or not. You're still going to feed me," she shrugged."Just for that, the pizza will definitely be cold," I fled the house.
"Take care of Robin!" I heard her yell from behind me. I heard the click from the lock on the door and I laughed.
When the strong man leaves, that's when she gets scared.
I dashed through the backstreets, down the alleys until I reached Robin's house. There was abundant movement coming from inside and I could hear the lively crowd talking, singing and munching. They were probably having a family gathering.
Hmm. Don't I love a challenge?
